Daz Studio Crashing..

i originally reported a serious problem i have with daz studio over 12 days ago..  firstly with  version 4.10 and now is 4.11 where the program would crash just after loading the interface..

I have had some replies from support back , but regrettibly none were of help to me...

It seems Daz is more concerned with selling than helping users,as  I am getting more promotional emails than am getting messages or emails of  help/ support  or even suggestions as to adding me out of my problem

I am a long time daz customer, and I even gave up using poser as i though Daz was a better opinion..

I am starting to think should of kept poser !!!

Now I know why Daz Studio is Free... sad sadsad

You need to post the log file

    C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4

or your user if not default name

then people can see what is crashing it as could be lots of things

It must be your computer as I don't get any crashes from either 4.10 or 4.11 beta and I have seen my 16 GB of ram at 100% and Processor at 100% quite a few times but no crashes at startup. Are you sure it isn't waiting while it connects to the CMS (Postgres SQL)?

I have no crashes with 4.10 nor 4.11 so I think the error has to be on your part, your pc.

I can only praise the customer support and tech. support here at Daz3d. they never let me down once in all those years I am a customer.

well if you unzip that you can read it and to my untrained eye it looks like you need to update your Nvidia driver

I don't have Nvidia. my card is AMD and i recently updated it..

Pbr : i guess you have been more fortunate. i had a few replies back from Daz Support on this case.. but it seems they either still working on a solution to my problem , or busy with others... else ( which i hope not, they have forgotten to get back to me )..

You get those warnings if you don't have a Nvidia card, I do as I CPU render on this laptop. I wonder if it is the OpenGL driver that is causing it?

The error log actually gives DzWavImporter::qt_metacall as the actual function causing the crash, though that may be misleading.

Shouting (using caps) is a tad irritating but I will try another suggestion anyway

    go here

    C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4

temporarily move out  the files  and try running DAZ studio

    or

Delete and uninstall reinstall DAZ studio

Well i am disappointed in Daz now.

It's now been 2 weeks since i submitted a Support ticket as to Daz Studio crashing on my computer .

10 Days since I had reply / response from their support department.

One would think they could at least let me know if they are working on the problem or not .

I have been buying Daz products for years and until now been pretty happy with the support I have been given..

I actually stopped using poser as i thought daz was a better opinion of the 2 and i could only afford to keep using either as to upgrade. I am starting to think I should of kept Poser too... :( :( :(

I have had Studio 4.10 and 4.11 Beta rendering together on my laptop for the past three days and have still been able to categorise some images, watch videos and surf the web without anything shutting down. The 4.11 Beta was doing a long three day render while on the 4.10 I did another two or three other renders at the same time so it must be something about your computer that has changed. Either an update to something, something has come loose and is overheating or the air vents and/or fans are needing cleaned. The specs for my laptop are in my signature and I do CPU rendering only as I don't have a Nvidia card.

FishTales :   well i can't use  the beta to try out. on as 4.11 is now officially out..  i have pc desktop .. i never tryed the beta as i know beta are usuually full of bugs and i like something more - ironically- Stable - lol..

As to updates as in drivers. As i have told others, I checked for updates..  I recently had new hard drives in my pc and the pc technician who did this was kind enough to clean out most of the dust from the casing. Being that i have no problems using other software..  games,  a image editor / paint program , surfing web , I personally  do not  beleive it's my pc hardware at fault,  as I not any other problems recently since getting new hard drives and Daz Studio was working  with the new hard drive, plus when i touch it is not hot even warm..

I too don't have Nvidia Graphic card by the way..

I thank you for the thoughts and suggestions...

The Beta I am using is the same as the full version that has just been released. You can run the full version and the Beta side by side that is why I still have 4.10 installed and usable. It might be something that was loosened when the tech was fitting the new drives and cleaning the dust out. It might not have been obvious right away. Rendering places a lot more strain on components than most other functions and for longer so it could be the extra heat generated has moved something in a slot. I would go inside and make sure everything is pushed into the slots and secure. I would try the ram, cpu, graphics card and hard drive connections and also look to see if a cable has been moved and is blocking the air passing through and over these components. Also check the connections from the power supply unit and make sure they are tight.

  • i am not good technically.. my problem is not to do with rendering..- Daz Studio crashes as soon as the interface pops up.. i have yet to get as even as far loading a prop/ figure even a scene , let alone render... to put it in simple terms.. image DS is a car. you turn the ignition on . it starts up but then just conks out  even before you get it more that 1 inch/ centimetre from where you parked it.... This is my problem.. DS dies on me as soon as it attempts to start up.. I can't  bring a figure / prop etc that i have installed already , let alone even start a render of any sort..

At the bottom left of the splash screen it shows you what is being loaded. Keep watching it and when it crashes take a note of what is trying to be loaded. Try that a few times and see if it is the same component that is causing it. Then come back with that information.

  • First : last  words  that appears on  Splash screen is Building interface...then the interface  appears and Then as it has done dozens of times before.. it Crashes.. i have screen captured the interface just before it crashes...

Is your OpenGL driver up to date. It should close and tell you if it isn't but you never know :)

  • Fish ::  someone suggested this to me.. -  i did update the latest driver for my AMD graphics card a few days ago .. the situatiion didn't change. Daz Studio still crashed..

  • Well now i know i am jinxed or cursed with Daz Studio.. Someone suggested i try and install Daz Studio 32 bit.. I just did this and ...Welllll Guess what ?? - Yes It too crashed just after the interface appeared... Exactly the same way, The 64 Bit version crashed... ... it seems the postSQL is corrupted or gone misssing. i just tried DS again and used the Windows Event Viewer.. as someone  suggested this via Facebook and found there was  error with the PostSQL.. which is strange i was suggest by someone on Facebook to uninstall and reinstall the PostSQl which I Did via the previous day - before today...

here is what the error said..

The description for Event ID 0 from source PostgreSQL cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

pg_ctl: another server might be running; trying to start server anyway

I have the same issue... crashes after the UI shows up.

and im on nvidia, so your issue may not be related to your AMD GPU.

As soon as i click on the window, the application is not responding.

What i hate the most... its hard to do a troubleshooting on a crash so soon in the boot sequence of a software...

Old content or new? Have you turned on Show Hidden in the ready to Download tab, and checked the Download Filters? Some content cannot be installed through DIM - if you enter dim::false in the filter on the Product Library page you should see any you have.

  • being paranoid... 99% of my data is on a second drive. which has a backup. If anything happens to the G drive it's taken out and replaced with the K drive which is relettered to G and daz finds it.
    ---
all of my content is installed into a hiearchy of named folders .. like poses, hair etc.
    ---
I can't imagine having the folders and files for 10,000 items in one folder and not expect issues.
    ----
so I have basically a hard installed contect manager
