Any way to SKIP thumbnails when re-saving? - SOLVED

Is it possible to NOT overwrite a thumbnail when resaving any sort of preset, etc? I make nice custom thumbs, put them in the folder and they look all lovely and such, but if I have to adjust anything and resave the preset it saves over it and I have to go get the nice thumb and replace it. I was hoping there was maybe a preferences setting to turn something like this on and off.

Go to Windows Explorer and check to see what extension your custom thumbs have. If it's .duf.png, then rename them to .png. DAZ Studio will always save new thumbnails as .duf.png, so if yours have a different extension, they won't be overwritten. After you save a new preset, just go to explorer and delete the new .duf.png. Then your own .png will be displayed.
I make custom thumbs for all my products and I always use the ,png extension.
Edit - I actually put in a feature request years ago for the option not to overwrite thumbs, but it was never implemented (as a separate option)
Hrm...that's an idea. I will try it out...I'm on a Mac but it shouldn't make any difference. I can probably batch rename them in the folder and then take it from there. I can edit stuff in text editor to make global changes on the presets and it won't overwrite it, but a combination of the two techniques might help sanity.
I'm using the Thumbnail Master thing to do the initial thumbs instead of Photohop once I came up with a nice style. I put the basic thumb background into that, set them up and save out at 256 for the .tips, then run it through a resizer to the 91s. I can rename them at that point like you suggested and then after an edit session, kill the .duf.pngs and everything should pop back into place. Nice to know I'm not crazy :)
Now if I could just make the LIE editor speed up..lol. I bet I can manually do set ups for that in text edit once I know my structure, but it probably won't load any faster in general. We shall see...
Thanks for all the goodies you make, BTW. You're a rockstar!
OOO.....it worked PERFECTLY. I can now run perfect thumbs and it overrides in place.
I did what you said about letting it run the first ones as the basic presets are saved not caring what they look like.
Then I set up the Thumbnail Mastery thing which was easy, and let it run on about 38 presets, after setting up the camera and angle, etc.
It ran perfectly, automatically saved BOTH the 91s and the 256 tips for all 38 presets in under 20 min. It was slow at first, but I tweaked the lighting and render settings and it sped up dramatically. It now runs the 91s in about 10 seconds and the 256s in about 20 seconds. So..30 seconds a set x 38 came out to 19 minutes. Then I just deleted the extra files. From then on it automatically overrides it if I change things and have to re-render AND doesn't create any extra files. BAM!
This and the Thumbnail Mastery is about the best 6 bucks I ever spent at Daz...:)
Thanks again!
Great! Glad you got it all working. It's nice to have nice thumbnails.
