I finally bought the plugin partly to confirm my suspicion this would work

enable stereo mix as your default audio input
and when you play a wav file through Windows media player
Mimic live will capture it.
I do not have a Mac so cannot help there.

Thanks for confirming this. Bought~
wendy! you rule!
can I also use winamp for this?
I use a laptop and the internal mic totally sucks, because it creates weird noises. The solution of wav sounds would save my mimic-life.
I better elaborate a bit more
and change my thread title
ANYTHING you hear through your speakers
inc mp3 and CD's you play
can be used in Mimic live IF you set your default line input to stereo mix.
I found a video tute on youtube for those without the driver
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmzfJWVH6T8
I had the driver so was simply a matter of going to show hidden devices and enabling it.
warning, on Sony laptops etc downloading this driver probably will void the warranty
they are rumoured to have persuaded Microsoft to disable it for fear of misuse ie copying copyright music, which it never actually stopped just removed a basic function from your PC for legitimate uses.
Wendy, you're the heroe of the day!

to get the driver if not in your PC already
yay! it works also with VIA soundcards
This is interesting stuff, wendy♥catz. I have the Stereo Mix device. I may experiment with it.
Mimic Live was on sale today. Having spent half the day learning I had to enter a serial no. for Mimic Live to show up in the menu, I've finally been able to play with the program.
I want to talk to somebody who's used this program a bit. Like you. I want to talk about settings. Should I use this thread, or open a new one?
you can if you want, up to you.
specific questions might get more targetted responses in a new thread though.
personally I think Daz SHOULD have a stickied mimic thread at least if they cannot manage a whole forum, where ALL the info can be found and hints etc discussed.
Well, I found out if I messed with those bottom two sliders enough, it produced distorted audio. Unfortunately there's no Reset to Default button. I opened a new file, pulled in a new figure, the sliders had reset to their defaults, and the distortion was gone. I will not fool with them again.
There ought to be a way to modify the pitch of your voice as you speak.
try Screaming Bee morphVox software if you want to change your voice
cheap and very useful
I have used it with many things even talking to Brother on Skype!
Is there any good and cheap text to speech software out there?
