un-selecting items

in Technical Help (nuts n bolts)

I have too many items listed in the Scene tab and cannot un-select things. Is there a shortcut key to un-select everything? Thanks

    Rigth-click in viewport > Clear Selection ?

    There are too many itmes in my viewport - No where to put my mouse except on an item that is listed. Do not know how to un-select when there is no place to put my mouse.

    Yes, right-click>Clear Selection deselects everything. Also, clicking on a single node (without a modifier key) will select only that and drop all the other selected items.

    Even if I rigth click on an object I still get the option for 'clear selection'.

    And/or I rigth click on my gizmo and chose 'clear selection'.
