DAZ lately crashing when rendering...

Hello everyone, i'd like to expose a problem: DAZ Studio doesn't seem to work well for me lately. Apparently it doesn't allow me to render scenes of 2+ characters anymore, and sometimes even 2 characters (G3,G8; G3,G3; G8,G8;) result in a crash of video card, and windows suddenly switches to integrated video card making the only solution to reboot system. I don't have the best graphic card ever (GTX770) but I used to render scenes with 3 characters and even complex scenes with lots of objects and lights, and now trying to render these same scenes make the program crash. I reinstalled DAZ Studio but doesn't change anything. I fear that my graphic card is some way damaged, but, for example, when I play videogames, it doesn't seem to show graphic problems or crashes of any type. I am not this expert to check problems by running diagnostic tests, and i apologize for eventually stupid things i said in this post, but  i need assistance to know if i need to buy a new graphic card or maybe there's another problem. Thank you in advance for your precious assistance.

My system:
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Intel Core i3 4160 @ 3.60GHz
16,0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770

If it's failing to the point of requiring a reboot I would be slightly suspicious of the hardware.

  • I reboot the system not because it freezes or crashes, but because video driver crashes and windows switches to integrated gpu, i think to prevent damage to the other gpu. Since i started using DAZ 2 years ago this always happened when my graphic card couldn't afford the rendering of a scene, but now things got much worse.

Well, it's possible that the nwe version of Iray (assuming this is a new version for you) or the latest drivers are being a little more demanding and tipping the GPU memory over the limit wher the previous versions were not.

Your graphics card cannot process and render complex scenes with three characters due to low memory. For complex scenes, more video memory (6 GB or more) is recommended. I think that's what's causing your video card problems.

Yeah, but why i used to be able to render complex scenes with the same gpu until -i don't know- two or three weeks ago and now the same scenes cause a crash? That's the whole point lol

I believe you used for rendering complex scenes, you reduced the size of the textures of the characters from 4096x4096 to 2048x2048?

  • Never had to reduce size of textures for those scenes. They simple stopped working some day. I hope the problem is this:

but i fear my gpu is damaged indecision

    - instead to reboot, try first to refresh video drivers

"You can use it anytime by pressing the key combination WinCtrl + Shift + B.
Once you do so, you'll see your screen go black for a moment and hear a beep while the
    video driver resets.
After a second or two, your
    display will return"

  • I had to uncheck CPU as it was running past 90 degrees celcius and shutting down during rending.  GPU runs about 65 degrees celcius so that is all I have for rending in Iray.
