You can click on the "eye" icon in the scene tab and those will stop displaying in the viewport.
Be aware, though, that hiding the lights will also prevent them from lighting the scene. Hiding the camera isn't an issue.
Oh yea.. I forgot that it does hide the cameras with the eye so at least that is somewhat helpful thanks.
It would still be nice if there was a way to hide the light outlines without shutting them off. The primary reason I want to hide them is because I have spotlights for smaller areas that I want to adjust but the area is so small that they are in the way to see how to adjust the lighting properly without rendering. It's just a little nuicance really but still would be nice to be able to hide them.
Try scaling them down very small. I don't believe the physical "size" of the light outline has any bearing on the size of the geometry used by the lighting shader. I could be wrong, though. I know for cameras I've made them very small before for similar reasons.
In addition to L'Adair, if you have AoA lights, they work well to illumniate entire scene, without wireframe light being a distraction, a simple trick I use.
There is a setting in Parameters called "Visible in Viewport" that hides the wireframe box, the rays and the base, but does not turn off the light. I don't recall when that appeared. Works for cameras, too.

I believe that showed up in 4.11. I didn't realize it would work with Lights! Good to know.

Not the avatars, no, as far as I can recall.
