Have you somehow missed this thread http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/33248/

The sky is blue because the gasses in our atmosphere absorb higher frequency (bluer) light preferentially and re-radiate it. This is also why the sun looks redder as gets lower in the sky and the light has to pass through more atmosphere to get to your eye. Anybody want to answer the easy ones?

Why isn't the sky purple, then?

Why do we not call a shirt a pair of sleeves? We call pants a pair of pants, they both have a pair so why is it a shirt and not sleeves or a pair of sleeves? But then we would have to tackle coat and jacket, which might lead us back to that dreaded dress pants...
I drop the question. It's better to just let it be I think.

Purple is a mix of blue and red, the red wavelengths are not absorbed by the atmosphere to the extent as the blue wavelengths.

The sky is not purple because at the time of creation, those designing kept blue and red in separate rooms so
there was no way to make purple.

Pants are called pants cause that is what we do to get in them, is pant.

    What's your Rendo username?

A close look at these links should show how to craft a link to your own freebies there:

"Once upon a time" [true story] the sky was a shade of pink/purple in photos taken at the time ... the sun looked like a bright blood red moon ... why had something to do with a very large forest fire that was loading the atmosphere with ash or whatever.
