I just love Drako. He reminds me just a little bit of a few actors... Heath Ledger, Brian Krause, Marc Blucas.
Out of the box, Drako's skin is rather orange and very dark. It looks weird on a character with such a corn-fed features. But I finally managed to tweak it into something I'm happy with.
Giving Erock3D's Grass System a serious try for the first time. I think it looks great! It was full of fireflies but I think GIMP's denoiser did a pretty good job of cleaning it up.

Hi,
i own the grungy threads, but i am not able to destroy a shirt in this way.
How can i do this?
Thanks
1) Select the garment, go to the Surfaces tab, select the material zone(s) you want to rip
2) Apply a preset: My DAZ 3D Library -> Shader Presets -> PixelTizzyFit -> Grungy Threads -> 2 Ripped
3) You should now be able to see the effect on the garment if you're in NVIDIA Iray preview mode. Now, changing the position and scale of the holes is a bit of a hassle; here's how I do it. Switch to Texture Shaded mode. (You may notice that the holes in Texture Shaded mode don't match up with the holes in NVIDIA Iray preview mode. That's ok, don't worry about it!)
4) Find Horizontal/Vertical Offset and Horizontal/Vertical Tiles in the Surfaces tab. Changing the values will move around the holes and change their scale. You should be able to see this on the figure if you're in Texture Shaded mode. (It will also move around the other textures of the garment. Don't worry about that, just focus on the placement/scale of the holes.)
5) Staying in Texture Shaded mode, tweak the values until you're happy with the placement and scale of the holes. Write down all four values, then reset them to what they originally were. Usually this means Horizontal/Vertical Offset = 0 and Horizontal/Vertical Tiles = 1.
6) Find Cutout Opacity in the Surfaces tab, where you should see a very small thumbnail of the map you had applied earlier. Click on the thumbnail, then Image Editor..., then Instance Tiling.
7) Here you have again Horizontal/Vertical Offset and Horizontal/Vertical Tiles. Enter the values you had written down earlier.
8) You're done! Be aware that the effect does not show correctly in Texture Shaded mode but it does in NVIDIA Iray preview mode.
Can't wait to see what you'll make, share a link when you're done!
Thank you very vey much. Good trick
Wow, I actually see a lot of Heath Ledger (RIP) in your picture of Drako as a centaur. He's one handsome horseman!

I'm a bit surprised how few Latino men there are in DAZ land. Yes, they do exist and of course there's Diego 8, but I wish there was more choice.
Gabriel (who was a freebie recently) has great features but he's just too young for my taste. In the few initial test renders I did he somehow looks even younger than in the promos. Here's an attempt to age him up some. There's some Dain 8 in there and some Ivan 7, along with a whole lotta dials. I like the result! :)
Finally using dForce Magnets for the first time, about a thousand years after I bought them. The good news is that the basic use of the product is simple enough. The bad news is that I found it quite hard to do precise work with them. It took several tries to make it look like Gabriel's actually grasping the tshirt. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, I'll have to study the instructions.

Gabriel grew up well, I must say.

I'm generally not into boys in makeup but I was still intrigued by Brandon's skin. It's a nice one to have it in my arsenal.
Didn't bother transferring his morph though; not to my taste (and doesn't look anything like Brandon Lee, whom the character clearly is referencing.)

This is an old entry that I made in 2018. I was incredibly proud of it at the time!
I still think it's a neat idea so I decided to revise the scene and apply what I learned in the time since. Plus, I have a larger library to draw from now.

The new version is also an entry in the current Shift Art challenge where the theme is It's All About The Guys!
(I have cleared with the organisers whether it's ok to submit a reworked old scene.)
The Shift Art website has only recently started doing monthly DAZ challenges, you should go check it out!

Thank you, that's nice to hear!

Over the course of the last few weeks I've gone thorugh all my renders and uploaded my personal favourites to Renderosity. You won't find anything there that you can't find here. But if the idea of a kind of "Hylas' Greatest Hits" appeals to you, head on over and check it out! https://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/?uid=905775

I haven't posted in a while. I actually had been rendering a lot for a few weeks, but it was all stuff that wouldn't really be appropriate for this forum. Then I burned out on DAZ Studio for a while. Looks like I'm getting back into it now...
I won a prize in last months Renderosity contest! Amongst other things I got the Battered Baracks set by sixus1 which is great, renders fast, and looks good in IRAY with only a few tweaks; and the dashing Tylor for G3M by Gypsyangel. As with my previous Gypsyangel character I love the sculpt but I'm not 100% convinced by the texture. Tylors skin is fine but I just feel I have several other skins that look better. Here he is with a tweaked version of Dains skin.
Same. After all those nautical/mermaid renders that nobody cared about, I went on a real tear rendering porn. That Underbelly/Maxx arm wrestling render is the only thing I’ve done in weeks that I can post. Good to see you’re back. Where are those dog tags from?
https://www.daz3d.com/fw-alex-hd-for-michael-7-dog-tags
They're haging a tad low for my taste but at least they don't distort the way the tags from this set do.
I actually got Alex (at a greatly reduced price) for the tags alone since the character or the skin are nothing special.
I put a link on my front page in tutorials on how to do the Grungy Threads. Nicely done! I mentioned it in my thread, deserves attention! :)
I'm flattered, thanks!
I'm thinking about uploading more WIPs. Here's a Prince Charming style character for a fairy tale render. He kinda looks like Sebastian Stan or Richard Madden, a little bit?
