Can I do these (Poser) tricks in Studio and how?

I'm making progress with Studio but there are a couple of moves I make in Poser and was wondering if an how I can do them in Studio.

1) I think this should be possible/easy but what do I know?  Is there anyway to show parameters which are hidden by default.  Basically I use the separate X,Y,Z scaling in certain body parts to customise characters.  Can't work out how to bring the option up in studio though.  To be fair I'm probably just being thick.

2) A bit more technical but it's really useful for lighting a scene.  In Poser you can turn off an object's ability to cast shadows.  Why is this useful?  It allows the light to pass through a wall unimpeded allowing you to use HDRI lighting in an interior setting.  Or to place a powerful light outside a room/building so you can boost the light in a scene without washing out effect.  But most importantly in both cases the wall (or other object) remains visible in the scene.  I don't automatically expect this functionality to be available in DS but if it is, where can I find it?

I thought it saved that setting when you exit Daz Studio. I could swear I've toggled hidden parameters on for a specific reason, then grumbled (mostly at myself) later when they were STILL on and I didn't need them anymore.

Not in Iray you can't. Since Iray is a physically based rendering engine, it attempts to simulate how light works in the real world. Just like you can't make a RL object stop casting shadows, you can't do it in Iray.

In Iray, we would hide the ceiling/roof/wall that we wanted the light to pass through, assuming it doesn't show in the scene of course.

You can, however, if you're using 3Delight for the rendering engine.

    Thanks for your help.

Studio may well remember the settings, but it doesn't really help because I can't find the option to turn them on in the first place.(I told you I was thick).

To be fair Superfly is a PBR engine as well but can do it.  People often understimate what you can do with PBR  A PBR Rendered can be told to disregard an object when calculating the initial light  paths.  It is possible that Daz hasn't implemented the functionality though, which is fine and to be fair all I needed to know.

Rightclick in the parameters pane, opens up a menu where you can show or hide hidden properties.

You can do PBR rendering in 3Delight (scripted pathtracing with this kit: https://www.daz3d.com/aweshading-kit-10-for-daz-studio  (If you search the freebies section of the forums you can download the shader for free among with some other useful stuff to test it out.) With aweSurface you can do all that, make objects not cast shadows, be invisible to the camera but still show up in reflections, all the stuff that a biased renderer is capable of;)

    Found the freebie thread: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/277581/awe-surface-shader-a-new-physically-plausible-shader-for-daz-studio-and-3delight/p1

Thanks Sven, that's super helpful on both counts.

Yes Octane too can ignore shadows, only cast shadows etc on object layers but sadly it’s not been implemented in iray

I'm sure I downloaded a free camera from somewhere that allowed light to pass through walls & stuff, I'll see if I can find it...
    Steve.

    UPDATE
    Iray Interior Camera
Found it, not sure if it's what you want, it allows light through anything outside the field of view of the camera.
