Lips (makeup) lost part of surface with 4.11 - is there a setting to be changed?

Hi!

I just installed 4.11 and everything is fine except one thing: some surfaces gets distorted. It's NOT about the denoiser, I have tested with and without.

I have a render made with 4.10 of a character with the skin of Makayla (https://www.daz3d.com/makayla-hd-for-genesis-8-female ). The lips looks just like in the promo pictures, they have a slight metallic shimmer. But when I render the same picture (the same file = the exact same conditions) with 4.11, that shimmer is gone and the lips are just flat. As I said; its the same with and without denoiser.

Is there a setting that has to be changed in 4.11 or is it a bug?

Uploading of pics failed but I have included links below.

Are these the same release channel - both General Release, or both Beta?

Hmm, I believe both where General Release. Right now I have only 4.10....the idea was to have 4.11 as a beta parallell with 4.10, BUT, I updated 4.11 via upload manager without knowing it was then to overwrite 4.10.

    Does it make sense ?

BTW, I have re-installed Makayla in case any files would have been corrupted, but it is the same.

If you still have 4.10 does that mean you reinstalled? Or is that a typo?

Sorry, it was a typo. I only have 4.11 now.

Ah, I thought that might be the case.

Since you have upgraded the same version there shouldn't be any issue over settings not matching. I have noticed that lips often look shinier than their thumbnails but I thought that had always been the case and blamed  my lighting

The thing is that one of the pictures is from a set that where rendered with 4.10, and happened to look eactly is in the promo and I was happy with that. After I updated to 4.11, I used the same character and skin and couldn't understand why the lips where flat. One of the things I did was to re-render an older pic with 4.11, a pic that I knew had the lips working fine. Thats the result you see. The pictures you see has the eact same lighing etc etc, it is the exact same file just re-rendered with a few days between. There is no other changes than an update of Daz from 4.10 to 4.11. So there is "proof" that the lips looks different, the problem is why?

I don't know, it may be worth opening a support ticket and attaching your scene file and renders (with a note of the content used).

    OK! Thanks Richard!

If anyone happened to have https://www.daz3d.com/makayla-hd-for-genesis-8-female AND 4.11 installed, can you please see if your render will replicate my problems and update this thread. If it doesn't happen for you..well then the issue is somewhere else...

Try changing the dual lobe specular ratio. Here's the default setting:

And here it is at 100%:

Fantastic! You are right, that worked!

Any idea why the setting is needed in 4.11 but not 4.10?

    Thanks for the help!

Btw, it was a good setting to know aboout. I have tried it on other lips and it very often gives a nice effect!

After I did those renders, I tried the same setting on the skin, and that looked better too, so I may just reflexively crank it to 100% on everything from here in out. As for why it’s needed now, I have no idea. I’m not too well-versed on texturing at this point, so I basically just brute-force settings until I get more or less what I want.
