Has the denoiser gotten more aggressive or is it just me?

Has the denoiser in the release version gotten more aggressive? I used the beta for quite awhile and the denoiser was pretty strong, but seems to be twice as strong now. Anyone else think so or am I just imagining things?

There is no difference between the last beta (or some before that, as far as I ray goes) and the General Release - if there had been a chnage the version number would have been updated. Remember that the two don't share settings, though by default your render settings will save and load with the scene file.

Are you sure this isn't a scene based issue Laurie? The denoiser will kick in at a set iteration amount, regardless of of the quality the denoiser has to work with. If you're denoising a super complex scene, you're going to get a harsh result in the short term.

This is interesting. Could you publish some example pictures for proof please ? I mean using the same scene so there are no difference with the settings. From what I understand it is possible to install both the beta and the general release and they should be the same. But I see many users here claiming they are not.

It is pretty aggressive in the beta too compared to the earlier ones IMO

The Intel free denoiser works better and mcasual has made a script that lets you use it inside daz studio>>>> https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/334881/use-this-a-i-based-open-source-de-noiser-from-the-comfort-of-daz-studio#latest
