New computer and files on secondary hard drive. DIM wants to reinstall everything

jenniferhugheyjenniferhughey Posts: 404

Background: I had a setup where Daz was on C and my content was on a secondary drive. Then My PC was upgraded and now am using a different C drive that was empty. Installed new version of Daz and installed DIM pointing to my secondary drive (E) but now DIM wants to install all my files again. Is there something I missed? I thought all I did before was pointing content to my secondary drive? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Oh and I have a custom folder structure I don't want to mess with over there as well..

DAZ|Studio and DIM don't talk to one another, they just happen to use the same folder locations for installed content files. If you aren't using the default content locations, you have to set them manually in both D|S and DIM.

  • You might also need to copy over your manifest folders to your new setup so DIM knows that the items are loaded. This is what I had to do on my similar situation to yours.

Sorry I'm not in front of my Daz computer, otherwisse I'd offer up the default location. If you do a google search of the forums for "Manifest files" you should get the info. Or try this one: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/265586/dim-manifest-file-location-question
