Dforce in Daz Studio: Wind Nodes and Magnet Tool

Hello,

this Dforce looks really fun but I get a lot of errors using it.

It seems to work fine with just normal simulation.

But if I a wind node everything goes wrong. The Clothes start totally to disforming and run out of its physical shape. Like if you blow into some chewing gum and not fabric.

And how the dforce magnet works... I could int find it out. Just got preparing simulation error. What exactly I am supposed to do? I found out how to get into this vertex selection mode. And moved the magnet. But what next?

I think to miss a lot of opportunities for action scenes because have you ever seen a dress in an action scene on a character doing some amazing flip with a lot of spins? And the dress just follows the gravity in the frozen scene?

I really want to find out how those tools work but those old forum themes couldn't help. I had e great help about lights in Iray which was much more helpful than most Discussions I found about this.

Thank you for your Help and advices

What speeds are you using with the wind node?

With the magnet, you select the target vertex, load the magnet, then you move it in a later keyframe (I can't recall if it works from memorised state in a single frame) and do the simulation from the play range, the cloth should be dragged with the magnet.

    WIP Witch

The Idea was to add some wind to this scene for example.

I tired to set the wind as weak as possible but it dit super strange stuff.

    wind strength is about 5mph

and what do those errors mean?

    2019-07-02 19:35:23.585 WARNING: ..\..\..\src\dzopenclkernelfactory.cpp(32): Open CL notify: CL_MEM_OBJECT_ALLOCATION_FAILURE error executing CL_COMMAND_NDRANGE_KERNEL on GeForce GTX 970M (Device 0).

2019-07-02 19:35:23.586 WARNING: ..\..\..\src\dzdynamicsengine.cpp(2956): ERROR: Memory Object Allocation Failure (-4)
    2019-07-02 19:35:23.656 Total Simulation Time: 8 minutes 42.74 seconds

actually it looks funny but... it is not what i hoped to achive :P

Is that a dForce outfit? I suspect it's not one I have, but which is it?

it is the "dForce JK Suit for Genesis 8 Female(s)" outfit

it should work...I thought so :/

without wind it fells quite fine, but no wind on a falling or action szene with super fast movement...well

Have you tried increasing the number of sub-frames and/or iterations per sub-frame in Simualtion Settings? It may be that there's simply too much velocity in the cloth with the wind added for the default settings to resolve.

actually I am still in work to get any simualtion work without an error.

what should I try first and on which amount of number? I know it might e easier with some high end ram and cpu stuff to test. but since i need to wait like 5 to ten minutes to see a full error on ira render...

or 1 minute or.. 30 to see if the simulation has an error or drops some strng but funny stuff befor an error...

can you advice me to some easy number of sub-frames or iteration per sup-frames?   I still need to get into knowing this behaviours to understand them and I hope I could increase the look of my Renders if I understand what i am doing there. I will even adress you as senpai or sensei If you insist.

Try doubling one of the current values and see if that helps would be my approach.

  • thanks.

I tried this out.  in the end lowering those seemed to look a little bit better, because the skirt keept more in the usual size. instead of transforming nealry into skirt colored smoke :P  At least it looks like this for me. the double settings looked more like the skirt even leaving the body

I try with half settings on those booth and lowering the wind strength.

less high numbers cause less errors too. and perhaps the wind was really to stong.  0.55 insted of 5 seems to look not too strong. but on half numbers the skirt seem to bekome more like tight :/

I am afraid I need just a better graphic card and more ram -.-
