New user (former Poser user) - In my attempts to understand DS4's content structure i've apparently borked something up - and DS4 can no longer load any Genesis 8 files - it complains that the .duf files don't exist. What I would like to do is completely blow away this install and re-install it and what little content I have - as if I was doing it for the first time, but it seems to remember data from previous installs and that is messing up it's ability to load things. Any suggestions?

How did you install it? If you used DIM then you should be able to uninstall it using DIM.
I didn't install it with DIM - I installed directly from the Executable. I've tried uninstalling it via the Control Panel. But even after re-installing it - the now broken links to my old content seem to still exist...even if they no longer work.
Try reinstalling it using DIM and then uninstalling it using DIM that should get it all
Uninstalling does not remove settings - by design. Wheer are your content files, and what are your paths for the current set in Edit>Preferences>Content tab>Content Directory Manager?
Current path fpr DAZ Studio formats is: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\My Daz 3D Library.
I've been able to restore some files by using Install Manager to Uninstall the G8 Content and then re-install it.... but the Crux opf my problem is that my C:\ Drive is a small SSD the only houses my system partition. My D:\ drive is 10 times larger and mostly empty. As a Poser user I know how massive a content library can get - so I really need DAZ Content to work out of a location on D: - preferably one I can define myself!
In Content Directory Manager highlight the My Daz 3D Library folder and click the Edit button, then select the folder you want to use (this needs to be done under both Daz Studio Formats and Poser Formats). To update Install Manager you can either click the gear icon to open its settings, go to the Downloads tab, click +, and add your chosen path, then make it the current path at the bottom of the dialogue or you can go to http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/file_io/install_manager_config/start , download it using the link above the code, and drag it into the DS Viewport to have the path updated in DIM (but you should still make sure that DIM uses it as the current path).
That is done, under the Content Directory Manager I set DAZ Studio Formats to D:/DAZ Content ands Poser Formats to D:/Poser 11 (I'm a big fan of short file paths). I Then Copied the contents of my old C:\ directory into the new directory. THEN - I opened up DAZ install manager and changed it's Content Database Base to the new directory... but below there is a setting for "Content Path Shortcuts" which is set to "Recommended DAZ Studio/Poser Content Folder. However below that it's showing the Recommended path as my old C:/ location again with no obvious way to change it... not sure WHAT if anything needs to be done about that...
In DIM you need to create a new location and make it the Current one, then you can edit or remove the old one.
Not sure how to do that - Right Clicking on the path gives me the following: Edit Label (Grayed out - can't select), Edit Path (Also Grayed out), and Fix Installed file Registry... not really related to making a new path, but what-the-heck I clicked on it anyways.
Click the + button to ad a new location, use the ... button in the dialogue to set the path. Use the Current drop-down at the bottom to select the new destination.
GAH! Didn't see the + button down there - if it was a snake it would've bit me! So now, as if by some Arcane Sorcery - the other problem I had seems to have resolved itself! (It was about content I couldn't find - which now shows up)
Anyway, this is going to take some gettting used to, but THANK YOU so much for your patience with the noobishness here!
