Estimated Tax

I was just buying 7 items from the $2.99 sale for what should be a total of $20.93, but suddenly DAZ wants to charge me an "Estimated Tax" of $1.15 on top of it. I never noticed this before, and saw no announcement about it anywhere. When did this get started, and is everyone being charged this?

Apparently it sepends where you live as more and more countries and states are applying for sales tax on internet purchases.

Still don't like it; if mainly because it's so sudden. Especially as I've had to deal with other price increases lately such as a $75 increase in my monthly rent and having to start taking insulin (which also isn't cheap). Sems like I've getting nickel and dimed to death these days while my income remains fixed.

Being that more and more POS retail purchases are done online, its no surprise the government wants to make sure it receives its share. I don't quite understand how insulin(of all medications) still costs so much, given how long its been available. I mean, just take for example one of the cancer drugs Anadrol. It probably now costs $3000+ for a 30-day supply of the medication. It just boggles the mind when you consider that this drug, in its current tablet form, has been prescribed since the early 1960's. Its not overly expensive or difficult for drug manufacturers to make compared to other drugs and the only real tedious process in making it is resolving any resulting racemic mixtures in the synthesis process. A lot of prescription medications that they're charging hundreds of dollars for can be made with the same quality in a lab for a fraction of the cost by an individual with basic pharmaceutical calculations knowledge, the recipes, and having successfully completed the general chemistries and organic chemistries. The biggest expense that I can think of for pharma manufacturing is the cost of the instruments for QA testing(not considering R & D cost since I'm referring to drugs that have been out for decades).
