DAZ Studio 4.11 Pro - worst update ever

I just got into 4.11 today. Prior to this I was using 4.10 and everything worked perfectly. Now I can barely render anything without the whole system freezing up even after a driver update for my GPU. And the GPU even idles when it should be rendering :/ No overheating is causing this, I've checked. And the scene is not even that big, in fact I have rendered bigger scenes without any problem!

What driver version are you using (right-click on the desktop>nVidia Control Panel)?

430.86, I've been told that's the latest one. I am using the Acer branded laptop Nitro 5 with 8 GB RAM upgrade (it only had 4 GB when I bought it).

  • Someone? Please help :( On every thread I see people saying that my scene might be too big etc I know that's not true since I have rendered the same exact scene before, I just used different genesis 8 characters and that's all :/

If you used different morphs or different materials the scene may require more VRAM (eg if the materials use bigger/more texture files). And I think that if you use the Iray denoiser you may need more VRAM for the same scene than with 4.10.

Have you tried rendering a basic scene to see if your GPU is used at all?

In my original scene, there are Ellithia 8, a genesis 3 male, meanwhile for the environment I used the Z Hotel Room. I tried hiding the environment and everything else, leaving just Ellithia in it, yet still Daz ended up using CPU instead of GPU... I tried loading the same Z Hotel Room environment and a base genesis 8 female and render started almost instantaneously. This is just baffling to me.

4.11 uses a different iray version, that has limits both with drivers and with cards. Old drivers and old cards will not work. Also it is possible that 4.11 requires more vram than 4.10 for the same scene. If you can render a simple test scene then you know that everything is fine as for drivers and installation.

As for me I was afraid to pass to 4.11 because there are many discussions here about 4.11 issues. But at last I tried it and everything seems to work fine on my system so far.

I tried recreating the same scene in DAZ using the exact figures and environment, all is working well now. Looks like the file might have been corrupted.

Awesome, so glad it finally worked for you :-)

Unfortunately it seems 4.11 has issues loading 4.10 scenes if primitives was used ..

Did you recreate the entire scene or did you use some kind of shortcut (i.e saving indivudal elements as scene subsets etc)?

    Thanks!
