Are G8M and G8F eyes the same?

Are G8M and G8F eyes interchangeable? I noticed that I can apply G8M eye materials to G8F and vice versa, and it looks good as far as I can tell. But when I look at the maps they look quite different. Is there a reason why I shouldn't apply one to the other?

    Yes, eyes are interchangeable, using eyes mats, Iris, pupils, sclera.

    Kinda makes me wonder why this fact isn't advertised more... this opens up a whole lotta possibilities all of a sudden!
