Python Errors when importing DSON user files

edited December 1969 in New Users

I've been tearing my hair out trying to figure out why I can't import a .duf from DAZ into Poser.

I'm using DS 4.6, Poser Pro 2012 with SR 3.1 installed, and DSON importer ver 1.1.1.33

I've been trying to import legacy V4 clothing into a V5 model to use in Poser. It exports okay, but when I try to open up the file in Poser, I get this python error:

Exception in RealityDataModel::addObjects: NULL result without error in PyObject_Call
Exception in Reality::DataModel::collectMaterials(Figure 19/Q_BootR) => error return without exception set
Exception in RealityDataModel::addObjects: error return without exception set
Exception in Reality::DataModel::collectMaterials(Figure 20/Q_BootL) => error return without exception set
Exception in RealityDataModel::addObjects: error return without exception set

What am I doing wrong?

So this is clothing you have converted using AutoFit (or manually)? If so, did you save the converted clothing as a Figure Asset - File>Save as>Support Assets

The clothing has to be fitted manually. When it loads, DAZ sees it as an unsupported figure.

When I look in the File -> Save As, I don't see Support Assets anywhere

Am I looking in the wrong place?

When you click on save as scroll all the way to the bottom where you see support asset at the bottom, when you hover over that another pop up comes up with choices for saving figures, morphs, props and etc.

I don't think I'm on the same sheet of music as you guys. The last option under "Save As" is "Depreciated" which brings up a list of presets which saves it as a .dsa file.

Link to previous post was changed to show you what I'm seeing when I try using "Save As"

Yes. Upgraded from 4.0 because that's where I thought I was having problems

If it is beta version you might want to download the latest stable release.

Downloading now, will see if that changes anything

Ah, well you need to be on 4.5+ to save .duf files at all. And if you have upgraded from 4.0 you probably want to load one of the basic layouts, or at least run \Scripts\Utilities\Update and merge menus in your default DAZ Studio content directory, to get the current command set - there have been a lot of changes.

Upgraded to 4.6 pro, and that Save As option still isn't there

Have you reloaded your layout or used the updated menus script - if not it will keep on using the old layout and menus.

  • edited December 2013

I've reloaded the layout, but I can't find that script. In the \Scripts folder, there's no \Utilities subfolder, but the merge mensus script was found in the \scripts\support\daz folder. I've looked through every subfolder in this directory, but the update script isn't in there. Been trying to google that script, but no luck there either

I must have a bastard child copy of Studio or something

    here is an odd thought,

I have windows 8.1 which is a pita in someways. I had to right click on the desktop icons of some of my programs and choose trouble shoot compatibility. It will take a few seconds and the next screen gives you a suggestion of what version the application might work in. It will ask you to test it with the compatibility suggestion. On the programs I had to do this with it fixed my program errors. So maybe doing that with the program and seeing if it just a compatibility issue. if the suggestion works it will automatically load the program in the correct 'state'

OS is Win7, tried running in compatibility under Vista, Vista SP1, Vista SP2, and even Server 2008........no joy. Is there anywhere I can get a copy of that script from or something?

Have you updated the content? The script is a recent addition, I assumed it was installed by the application but it may be in one of the other packages. Also make sure you are looking in the directory the installer or DIM placed the content in.

Studio is up-to-date. I've checked where it was installed \Program Files\DAZStudio4\scripts. Even completely uninstalled and started from scratch. Nothing

Has any other content been installed to \Program Files\DAZStudio4\ ?

The script isn't in the application folder, its in your content folder. e.g. Documents\DAZ 3D\My Library\Scripts\Utilities or Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\Scripts\Utilities

Did some digging and found an Update and Merge Menus.dse script. Ran it, but no change, even after restarting DS. Is that the script I should be running or is it something else?

The only other content was Reality 3D

That sounds correct by name. Check the end of your log file (Help>Troubleshooting>View log) after running the script.

Been out of town for a few days, but now I'm back. Anyway, ran the script and checked the logs, but no obvious errors seen. Last entry was that the script executed in 1 secs 120 msecs, and that's it. Still don't have the ability to save assets under the save as menu

  • edited December 1969

Problem solved. Plug-In to save assets was disabled. Had to re-enter the serial number and restart D|S for the items to show up. Saved items as assets, all is well once more.
