dForce cloth/collision issue

hello !

I am in the process of finalizing a clothing set and decided to try my hand at adding dforce. things are going pretty okay except for the fact that I can see the figure's subdivision faces through the garment. before the simulation, my mesh is nice and smooth but as soon as it collides with the figure, it gets rigid and indented by the figure's surface faces. both the garment and the figure are set to high resolution so I don't really understand what I'm doing wrong. does anyone know how to fix this? any help would be appreciated. I have attached photos of the issue for a better understanding of what I mean.
