How can I render masks for compositing?
I want a set of masks that will isolate parts of my figure. I know that I can get an overall silhouette by not rendering my background.
But how can I isolate areas like hair? I know I could make my figure invisible, but then the parts of the hair that should be hidden by the figure would render.
Ideally, I'd like to be able to have either a set of black and white alpha channels, with each one isolating a different part of the figure (hair, skin, clothing, etc.) or a rendering where those areas are filled with flat colors with no shading (so I can select them like a greenscreen).

If you're rendering with Iray take a look at the "canvas" feature.
