cannot link or dial the scene dome rotation with a custom parameter

i have created a rendering rig that rotates the cameras, lights, reflector, etc around a figure that is stationary at 0,0,0. I just move one dial. this works correctly. However, i cannot seem to link the dome rotation in the environment>render settings>dome rotation to the same custom dial parameter so that when I rotate my rig, it rotates the dome as well.

it seems there is no way to link the rendering dials to an object's dial or create a custom parameter in the render settings that links to object's dials.

is there a way to do this or do I have to continue to do this manually? thanks in advance.
