Parenting Problems?

So I get a prop in the right place, then parent it to the "parent" and it suddenly changes location. Why? Is there a way to keep it in position even as I make it a subordinate? I even tried just making a group out of the items and once again the items changed location.

    Make sure you have "parent in place" checked in teh change parent menu! (Which opens when you rightclick on the object in the viewport or in teh scene tab)

    There is also a Parent Items in Place checkmark in the Scene pane option menu for if you parent with drag and drop in this pane.

    You may also want to have a look at my post in this thread Why do things move when unparented? (including detailed descriptions and screenshots) where I compare the Change Parent dialog with the Drag & Drop in Scene pane method of (re)parenting "things" ;)
