MRL dForce Long Hair not showing up in render

Hello,

I am probably missing something but I can't seem to get the MRL dforce hair to show up in Iray.  I just see the scalp but no strands in the render.  Any ideas of what I am probably missing?

Thanks

OK, that certainly should be working. Is this an Iray or 3Delight render? Have you chnaged any of the Simulation settings on the hair? I assume other dForce hair/strand based hair is rendering OK?

Working in Iray, all hair including the Long Drape Dforce strand Hair by PhilW renders fine.  No simulator settings changed just straight loading and rendering.  With the MRL dforce hair you can see a preview of the hair fine, but when you render in Iray you only see the hair cap.

LOL thanks AprilYSH.  The only thing selected is the pointer tool no geom editing tool is selected.

I don't have this hair myself to test but in another thread some people found updating their nvidia driver helped.

    I gave up on the 1111 post count, maybe 1234 will last me longer. lol dForce hair has me posting more lately, more than I have in the last few years, we're all learning something new together again %}

Well thank you so much for all you do!  I will give the updated Nvidia driver a try.  I love your hair products by the way!  They render extremely well in Octane!

  • Well I just updated my video driver and still hair not showing up in render.  How do I go about getting a refund?

Heya Siciliano, I was wondering how you went there.  xmasrose brought up another checkpoint in this thread:

it's with regard to render preview and preview settings.

Refunds (and/or customer support requests) are processed through the help link (menu at the top of Daz website)
    or click this link: https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
note you need to "Sign In" separately (top right of the help page) before submitting a ticket.

    Hey AprilYSH,

Thanks, when I add strand hair and go into Parameters/All - I find "Render Line Tessellation Sides, and Preview PR Hairs.  I can turn on Preview PR Hairs, but I can't find those properties with the MRL hair in Parameters.  I have no other way of turning on Preveiw PR Hairs for this product.  This shouldn't be this difficult.

I found it. In the Scene tab under the MRL DFLHair Base - HDE (Hair Parented to this) you will find MRL DF Long Hair.  In the scene tab - click on the MRL DF Long Hair.  When you go to the Parameters tab/All and activate Preview PR Hairs and increase the Viewport Line Tessellation Sides and Render Line Tessellation Sides the hair appears in the Iray preview render mode.  The PA must document this or explain this much better as other Strand based hair render with no issues.

PS I can't wait to see more Strand based hair from you!  cheeky  You are one of my very favorite artists!!

Aww thanks :)  I have to say my strand hairs would have shown the same issue because I also don't set my viewport to Iray - it's very slow for me so I stick to "Texture Shaded" viewport, and then do a render (new window or direct to file) when I'm ready.  I will add a preset for this.  This is a reason I'm following dforce issue threads, to learn how others are using them.  Good to know there are a few (a lot??) people now with pretty good graphics cards that can handle this! I'm kinda jealous lol laugh

LOL, for me its all my learning curve using Iray.  I've been using Octane standalone for years and have been perfecting my Iray skin materials.  I forgot there are other things I need to learn in DAZ studio regarding rendering that I never needed in the past since I would just export out an .obj.  cheeky
