Commission for a Mega Hair product?

Hi,

I'm trying to put a character together thats going to have different hairstyles for different occasions.  Its a pretty specific request so if i post it on here and leave it as a simple suggestion it might not go anywhere.  So i was also wondering if anyone knows of Daz Vendors who are willing to take on commissions.  If they want to put it up on the Daz store or Rendo for other people to buy too then thats fine with me.

Nydo Hair for G3F by Swam

https://www.daz3d.com/nydo-hair-for-genesis-3-female-s

The Nydo Hair is going to be the default hair for the character.  I need 5 other styles: 1-Nydo with no hairband, 2-Nydo with no hairband and wet like from a shower, 3-Nydo but with a baseball style hat, 4-Nydo baseball hair but with the hat removed, 5-Nydo but with the ponytail part cut off.  I think for #5 the hair cut style i can just use Nick Hair but color matching might be a bit of a pain since they are made by different people.  I already own Nydo and Nick hair but even if i use the hair textures from one product on both and copy all the surface settings it still looks different in the renders.  For 12 Nydo with no hairband there is the MRL Warrior Hair.  For #2 Nydo wet hair/in the shower i cant find anything that looks suitable. There are wet hair products out there but they dont have the shaved head look that Nydo does.  For #3 Nydo with baseball cap i can do by deleting some of the hair mesh on existing products and replacing it with a skull cap mesh and shaved hair texture.  But #4 Nydo baseball cap style hair without the cap worn is gonna be hard.  The Nydo hair has the ponytail gathered and up a bit.  In order to fit out the back of a baseball cap the tail would need to be tied a bit downwards.  And thats going to be the tricky part and i'm not sure how i'm going to do that yet.

So before i go and get 2-3 other hair products and hack them up (and possibly fail miserably) i thought i would ask about commissions first. Do you guys think anyone out there would be willing to tackle a project like this?

If you are set on using the Nydo hair as the base, then SWAM would be the only person who could do it since no other vendor can modify another vendors product.

If SWAM did decide to do it then typically the cost would be 5-10 times more than a normal product in the store since there is no guarantee they can make the cost up if the produuct is placed in the store or even if DAZ wouod except it.

best to try and cotact SWAM to see if they can help you out.

As for trying to do it yourself and options, if you use one of the universal hair shaders, then you could apply it to other hairs and get a smiliar look when mixing and matching meshes. Also try using the geometry tool to hide parts

Just to clarify I'm not asking for someone to modify the Nydo Hair. I'm asking for a vendor willing to take on a commission (or take pity on me and just take this as a regular request/suggestion) that can make hairstyles SIMILAR to Nydo but with the modifications i mentioned (wet, with a hat, hat style but with hat off, etc). I didnt ask for someone to modify the Nydo hair because I know that vendors out there cant/wont mess with other peoples work.

How does "Nydo baseball hat hair but with the hat removed" differ from ordinary Nydo hair?

Also, have you considered customising the hat to accommodate the ponytail, like this girl does?

A quick image search shows plenty of ladies with high ponytails poking out through baseball caps.

Look at the Nydo Hair and where the back hole is on most baseball hat products...they dont match up.  The Nydo ponytail is angled upwards and the hairband is high up on the back of the head.  A baseball hat worn regularly and with no weird angle to it would need a ponytail worn low on the back on the back of the head so that it can go through the hole.  I'm not cutting any hole on top of the had just so the Nydo tail will fit through it, thats not the look that i want...

This is how i want the hat worn and thats how i want the tail to come out the back of it.  But i need part of the scalp to be shaved the same way the Nydo Hair is shaved.  AND i need a variant of what the whole thing would look like if the hat were removed.

Also, as an alternative to the Nydo baseball hat on/off appearance i am thinking about using a backwards style hat from the hip hop for G8F product which i already own.  For that i can use the relaxed tail/back part of the MRL Warrior Hair and the Nick Hair compressed really close to the scalp.

But thats only if i cant find someone able to do it the first way the way i want it to look.  For the scene i am planning on doing the bill of the hat needs to be facing forward because its going to be functional.  If the hat is worn backwards on the model for the scene i have planned then it will be like that meme pic of the guy wearing a backwards hat and using his hand to shield his eyes from the sun.

Well, making holes in hats is a lot easier than rearranging (or commissioning) hair products.

You could try setting the opacity of the tie and ponytail to 0 to hide them. Then have a second load of the hair with the scalp and top hair hidden in the same way. Don't fit the second one to the model, but parent it to the head - it will give you a ponytail that you can move around more freely, and perhaps fit the hat in the way you want.

For the shower hair, you could try this freebie: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/side-swept-rose-hair-for-genesis-3-8-females/126602 . It has a "wet" morph that reduces the volume a lot and could look like nydo in the shower, from the front at least. You'd have to use the geometry editor to remove the hair from the left side of her head, and combine it with a Nydo that has everything but the scalp hidden.

Thought I'd have a go at producing a "Nydo in the shower"

This is ordinary Nydo, with the Band, HairUpper and Tail surfaces all set to Cutout Opacity 0%. The result is a really handy crew cut for G3F if you ever need one.

Then I loaded Side Swept Rose, and used the geometry editor to delete the polys on the left of her head (actually, I didn't delete them, I allocated them to a new surface and set its opacity to 0% as well). I applied the wet morph and materials that it comes with. I should probably have upped the glossiness of the Nydo hair to make it look wetter, but I don't think it matters much with such short hair.

I think it looks reasonably convincing from this angle, probably less so from some others -- but it's a solution that's available now and one that won't cost you anything. It gives you something you can start with anyway.

  • I think what you did with the side swept hair should work for what i need, going to give it a try.  thanks
