Trying to make friends with the Install Manager
I bought some Genesis morph add-ons, and I look forward to using them. Since DAZ would not allow me a manual download, and since I have bombed with the Install Manager a number of times, I tried to set it up as simply as possible. I created a folder named DAZ and put everything in there. I let the Installer do whatever it wanted. I have no choice. I have attached a screen shot.
My install paths now look like this:
Path to figure -
D:\DAZ\Runtime\libraries\Character\DAZ People\Genesis 2 Base Male.cr2
Morph - Body
D:\DAZ\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 2\Male\Morphs\DAZ 3D\Evolution Body\CTRLBodybuilder.dsf
Morph - Head
D:\DAZ\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 2\Male\Morphs\DAZ 3D\Evolution Head\CTRLBrowDefine.dsf
Morph - Age
D:\DAZ\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis\Base\Morphs\Zev0\Aging\Back Smoother.dsf
This didn't work out so well. In DS, these morphs cannot be found. They are not in the Parameters list when I load the genesis figure. They aren't in the Content Library anywhere I can see. Everything else I installed, and I installed over 100 items, seems to be where it belongs. Looks like I bombed again.
The answer was not here. So. What should I do next?
Thanks.

You have the D:\DAZ\ folder selected as a DAZ Studio content directory in DS?
I believe I do...
It looks like you've only added your directory to the Poser Formats section. Add it to the DAZ Studio Formats section too.
I've been thinking, this is only a name, nothing more. Am I wrong about this?

Egad! I added the content dir to the DAZ section, and got a whole different set of subdirs! I need to check what's there.
Who would've imagined. :P
Yes, there are three separate types of content - native, Poser and other import -- each with a list of content directories.
Well, this added a lot of interesting content. Aging/Body turned up, but no sign of Aging/Face. Head Morphs and Body Morphs are still missing. Any thoughts?
I'm not adverse to tearing this whole thing out and rebuilding it from scratch, manually or any other way. Is there a definition of a "perfect" DS content dir?
Yes start over, don't have the programs and the content in the same folder. Try something like D:/3D/Apps/32bit/ and D:/3D/Apps/64bit for programs and D:/3D/Content/My DAZ Library for content. For content from other places than DAZ use addition libraries, for example D:/3D/Content/Renderosity Library or D:/3D/Content/ShareCG . Be sure to add the additional libraries in DAZ Studios Content Directory Manager.
I did. I ripped everything out and put it back. Apps are in 64, content is in Content. Now, two of the three new add-ons show up in the parameters panel. Only Aging is missing. I'm disappointed in this, but I just can't find any documentation that deals with it. I've learned to despise the Install Manager, though.
It seems that the DS Content Library is actually a bunch of shortcuts. This surprises me, because somewhere I read that the DS Library was faithful to the Windows dir structure. Can't believe everything you read. I also read that the DS content dir was named Content. Maybe at one time, it was.
It is said that the definition of insanity is, performing the same experiment over and over, and expecting different results. I'm finished uninstalling and reinstalling for a while.
Are you a Poser user? I asked because in an earlier message you stated:
Path to figure -
D:\DAZ\Runtime\libraries\Character\DAZ People\Genesis 2 Base Male.cr2
This is a file installed by a PoserCF installer for use within Poser and the DSON Inporter. I only use Poser to test stuff, so I normally don't install the PoserCF installer. Any Genesis/Genesis2 content is supposed to be loaded from DAZ Studio Formats content library. Although there are a few exceptions, most morph packages don't have any Content Library presets. If the morph packages are installed correctly, you'll only see the new morphs in the Parameter and/or Shaping tab when you load a "fresh" Genesis/Genesis2 figure.
UPDATED: I see you probably are a Poser user as shown on your content library paths. Regardless, if you're loading Genesis/Genesis2 content in DAZ Studio, you should be using the DAZ Studio Formats content library.
When you do get all the content where you need them, these are not all going to appear on the Parameters Tab when one figure is selected because 3 are for G2M and 1 is for Genesis.
I started out with Poser, Lindsey. I am now exploring alternatives.
Right now I get the same set of morphs whether I load the cr2 or the duf Genesis 2 male figure. Still no Age morphs either way. I will do further comparisons of the two file types.
The Age morphs were installed the same way as all the other content, at the same time, with the same Install Manager settings.
Thanks.
That's it, Patience55! Dammitall! The age morphs are there with the Basic Male Genesis figure, but the other new morphs are not.
Thanks.

Are your "Age Morphs" Zev0's Aging Morphs for Genesis?
They are supposed to be installed in: data\DAZ 3D\Genesis\Base\Morphs\Zev0\Aging
I have 65 morph .dsf files in there and the morphs will appear in the Parameter and Shaping tabs under Actor>Aging Morphs on a freshly loaded Genesis figure. You will not have the AG star icon as shown on my Parameters tab as I added them myself. I don't remember if blue is the original color either. I may have changed that too.
Everything works as it should now, Lindsey. That last uninstall/reinstall, as recommended by jestmart, corrected everything, although I'm not clear on why. After that, the problem was my own invalid assumptions about Genesis figures. I'm straight on that now. All three morphs are installed and functioning correctly. Yes, the Aging morphs are the Zev0 morphs.
I'd like to know the particulars of just how the Content Library goes about its business. Obviously some have figured it out, otherwise there would be no third party content. Perhaps there is a developer's guide somewhere that reveals the inner workings. I'm not going to pursue that now, though. I have too many other mistakes to make first.
Thanks to all who helped. I learned plenty during this adventure.
