Deleting Parts of a Model?

I'd like to keep one part of a model, but delete the rest. The model isn't divided into secitons that can be turned on or off. I could use opacity in surfaces pane, but that won't be ideal. Is the geometry selector the best way to go here?  Select all the geometry I don't want and hit delete?

Yes. Geometry Editor is going to be the best way to achieve what you're trying to do. Technically, in Geometry Editor, you would first select the faces you don't want, hide them, then choose to delete the hidden faces.

The Geometry Editor, if that's what you mean, yes - select (the lists in the Tool Settings pane may help), right-click in Viewport>Geometry Editor>Delete Selected
