Wonder why Daz does not have a read me file when checking out items.

Would be so helpful....You only get to see it once the item is purchased.

Copy the SKU number from the product page and go here: http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/start

Is that fully updated? In the past, it hasn't been.

    it's hit and miss.

I've found it to be more miss than hit.

I prefer to have a written read me included with the product. That way I don't have to go searching through a wiki in the hopes that one has been provided. It also saves needless purchases and returns. If I had had access to the read me, I wouldn't even have bothered to purchase several products that later necessitated the whole ticket/CS routine.

DAZ never should have done away with requiring a written read me to be included in the files.

It also help to keep licenses straight.

Did a particular outfit in my runtime come from Daz, Rendo, RDNA, Poser Direct, Poser World, Fantasies Realm, or somewhere else? Did a particular Songbird come from Daz or Hivewire or Ken's website? If I have a readme file of some sort, I can tell right off which store - and thus which license - applies. If I don't, and I'm in a hurry, I'll use something else for which I already know the license terms.

I agree, this would be easier to solve. I had to return two products - I would not have to if I had the readme...

If you have install manager, then you can also go to the tab 'installed', find your product and click the 'i'

However I agree, the readme should be included, it helps a lot.

Except for "Wikipedia" I've found most wiki's to be rather wonky.

All new products have their readme's in wiki form. You can access the readme either by browsing the wiki by SKU and product name, or by using the Install Manger information button for the product. The DAZ Wiki has an export button that allows you to download the readme as a .pdf or .odt file.

Before we switched to wiki format all products were required to include a readme in .html format. Those readme's are still included with the product. They get installed to a folder called Readme's in your content destination directory. The current format allows users to view the readme before they purchase a product, the old way doesn't (which is one of the reasons we switched to the wiki format for readme's, though there were others).

Only the oldest of products will be missing a readme. These products will probably have a SKU of 2000 or less.

So why not just place a link on the product page that allows easy access to the read me from the product page? SKU's change and the few times I tried to access a read me by name it was either did not exist (as in there was no product listed by that name despite the fact that it was the name in the store) or the page was blank.

How does having a readme included with the product prevent needless purchases and returns? Having the online readme lets you see it before purchase. Personally I think having the readme both online and included in the product package is desirable.

Which I posted just above that a link needs to be on the product page to access the read me. Some products with DSON installers either do not work in Poser or do not work well enough to warrant keeping. If there had been easy access to the read me and the vendor had stated in the read me that the product will not work in Poser or at the very least state it has not had any testing in Poser. I would not have bothered to purchase the products.
