Turning 90 degrees within a straight line aniblock walk cycle

Is it possible to take straight line walk cycle and have the cycle turn 90 degrees at some point?

I am using a SKMotion flat foot walk cycle down a corridoor and would like the figure to turn left at a T junction.

I tried to animate the characters base y rotation.. At the point I wanted the turn to begin I created a Keyframe on lvl 1 of the aniblock by editing the base figure’s y rotation very slightly then moved the time line on and tried to create another Keyframe with the base figures y rotation set at 90 degrees. This sent the figure off the corridoor because some how the base origin must have moved away from the figure.

I know I could use a turn left aniblock but I cannot get a smooth transition and the turn looks robotic.

Any help would be appreciated.

  • If you parent your figure to a Null, then you can just spin the Null by 90degrees. You might have to add keyframes to the Null to keep it close to the figure as they walk.
