New content creator question on which modeling program to use.

Hi All.
I've been scanning the discussion groups for a simple answer to this question for sometime now. Please make my life alot better.... As the character Arlin said on StarGate SG1 once.. You are now better. 8-)
I have the latest LW 2019 and Blender 2.79b. I can''t seem to get blender to export any file format that will bring in the textures into DS. Lightwave seems to do this okay exporting the file as a "DAE" format.
Problem is without me loosing more of my grey hair which program should I focus on that will allow me to model and texture things into DS. I really like both programs... But please help me choose which modeler to use for content creation in DS.
Forgive me if this has been rehashed zillions of times in other discusson groups, and I am sure it has. I just can't find the answer.... Or I may have already answered my question by buying LightWave....

No medeller I ever tried will import into DS with textures already set up.
Thanks TheKD for your reply...
LightWave 3D will if you export the file as colldata (DAE) file. I know it's expensive but are their others out there that may work with getting your model + textures into DS? I see so many tutorials on DAZ that seem to point the way to using Blender for this. But I have not had any luck using blender to model and texture into DS/

Hello, here is my workflow but you can use any software what you like.
Probably need 3D paint software in case of make architectures.
Awesome tentman. Much appreciated...

TBH, I think that most have just gotten used to the idea that you'll import the OBJ and then re-apply the surface settings. Even Collada can be hit or miss sometimes. And forget about hoping that MTL files will help. :)
You'll get pretty efficient at the process. If you have a consistent naming convention for texture files like:
Then it may even be possible to write a pretty simple Daz Script where you load the base texture file and then run the script to set the others.
Hi JonnyRay,
Thnks so much for your input. I value your information as well. Surely this will save me some hit and misses and time wasted on things that already are known NOT to work well in this situation.

Hey JonnyRay,
Your tutorials are great. I checked some of them very briefly and I will be sure to come back to them and go over them in detail. They are already bookmarked.
