Monitor goes black (no signal).

I'm trying to determine the source of this issue. It started four days ago around a Windows 10 update and has plagued me since. The issue usually occurs during or immediately after an IRAY render has been started. My monitor will go black and report (no signal) as though a sleep timeout has engaged (though I have none operating). Nothing will reengage the monitor except a full reboot. I can, however hear the computer behaving normally behind the black screen. Each time I have reviewed the D|S logs and found nothing out of the ordinary except this last time, this was the report from the logs just before the screen blanked:

2019-07-27 14:37:48.132 Iray INFO - module:category(IRAY:RENDER):   1.0   IRAY   rend info : Received update to 00053 iterations after 240.341s.

I am currently running the latest public build of Studio 4.11

Computer is an HP Envy Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

NVidia Iray GPUs: GPU: 1 - GeForce GT 640 --- Memory Size: 3.9 GB --- Clock Rate: 797000 KH --- Multi Processor Count: 2 --- CUDA Compute Capability: 3.0 Latest Nvidia driver installed.

Any help is appreciated.

I fixed it, Windows 7 in my case, by installing an earlier Nvidia driver after uninstalling the update didn’t work,

this article explains what likely happened though but I know others with the same issues using the last Nvidia driver so maybe try a clean install of the one before if it persists

thing is I did update my driver immediately after that update

so going back to the previous one was the next option and worked

don’t roll back, download the legacy installer from Nvidia here

No joy for me on that. I'll try retrograding further, but I installed the driver from May (before I started having trouble). Woke up to a black screen.

Another Windows update and the issue has returned for me too

I was rendering an image series in DAZ iray and let it go an hour before killing the power and it rendered 60 images

the logfile says used GPU verbose and all that stuff so it’s just the signal to the monitors that stops it made a chime this time the one Windows does putting up a warning though of course could not see what it was

it then continues on with black screens after that message repeated lots and lots of times and starts rendering about 36 images again until I kill it

    1. Open your NVIDIA Control Panel and select “Manage 3D settings”

    2. Then, select the “Power Management mode” and change the option from “Adaptive” to “Prefer maximum performance”

    3. Save your changes, and your are done!

    a suggestion from Youtube

mine was adaptive, probably won't work but

    update

    no it didn't

no iray, Octane, Flowscape, Twinmotion for me crying

can use 3Delight and Carrara native, guess will have to get used to it until I can buy a new computer, not happy but I do have lots of spare time

hell I could even use Bryce

may need to enable one of my monitors in BIOS to use the mobo graphics in case of crashes though
