Kids 4 Pro bundle issues

Hi team, I have been beavering away and getting fairly acquauinted with the wizardry of DS. However, in my quest to branch out I have just bought and installed the Kids 4 Pro Bundle. Now, to say using this bundle is difficult is an understatement. So, issues I have:
a) Finding where all of the assets are installed has been an absolute nightmare, it's like going to a field of haystacks looking for particular needles. Using the search bar to locate say, Kids 4 Base or Aryelle Hair yields nothing. So, after hours of trawling through my library I eventually located the assets, albeit spread around all over the place :( They were either in Poser Library or Products folder, or a combination thereof. Are they installed in the correct place? I used the DIM to install.
b) Having loaded the base figure it also loads underwear which I want to change but can't for the life of me figure out how to remove the pre-installed version.
c) Some of the icons in the Library folders have a warning sign next to them, and some of the icons in the actual content pane have what looks like a scroll in the top left corner. Any idea what these mean? It may help me understand what, if any, problems I have.
I attach a pic to illustrate all 3 inquiries.
thank you
Malc

Hello again, an appendage to question a) Is it possible to move assetts to folders I create? Eg. Clothing male, Clothing Female, People male, People female, or even Dresses, Pants, Underwear, Hair etc.
Just musing....
Yes, you can move around folders, with the exception of the stuff inside data and runtime directories, to wherever you feel like. if you are in DS at the time of the move, right click and refresh the library to see the changes reflected there.
The underwear on k4 is part of the texture if I remember right, so you can only remove it by giving it a skin that doesn't have it. The older stuff is really very unorganized and all over the place, the newer stuff is too, but to a way lesser extent.
Does that mess with upgraded products and DIM? Is it smart enough to know where to put the updates or will it put them in the original Library locations? (I don't worry about stuff from other sources as I manually manage those anyway.)
Oh yeah, good thing to bring up. If you use DIM or connect, better to leave them be, or you are going to end up with a duplicate mess all over the place! The way to organize in that case would be through the smart content.
Many thanks TheKD, I may try and copy assets to my own created folders rather than move them so if there's a problem I can revert back to the original locations.
If you wish to retain your sanity, I do not recommend moving folders or items as this will break the links to the metadata and DIM installation data. Uninstalling will become a nightmare, and updates (not that anyone is expecting updates to Kids 4) will duplicate the effort of moving items again. Better to make links to products (select individual or multiple items in a folder and right-click->Create Links for Assets...) and move those links, or, create custom categories that you can organize any way you want without disturbing the file structure and confounding the database.
Sound advice there NorthOf45, taken on board. One thing I'm not sure of though, what exactly is meant by "Create custom categories"?
In the Content Library, there are five top-level entries. Under Categories, there is the Default branch. You can create a new sub-category next to it (right-click on Categories, Create a Sub-Category, e.g., MyCategories). You can mix Poser and DAZ Studio formats so that you can find everything in one place. Some older Poser-format products have a core Poser installer, which puts things under the Poser Formats branch, and sometimes an additional DAZ Studio companion file, usually with DAZ Studio material presets, in the DAZ Studio formats section. The Poser file structure was geared to the workflow in Poser, where the visible content changed depending which "room" you were in. Studio has tabs for Shaping, Posing, Surfaces, etc., but the visible content doesn't change. Smart content shows what is compatible with a given item selected in the scene (if there is decent metadata), but most older Poser formats do not have it (like Kids 4).
So, I have created a category structure that sort of follows the DAZ Studio Formats structure (Animals, Architechture, People, etc.), but without all the spurious entries, with various sub-folders of increasing specialization. For example, under People, I have Genesis, Genesis 2 Female, Genesis 2 Male, and so on. Under Genesis I have Accessories, Characters Female, Characters Male, Hair Female, Hair Male, Hair Generic, etc.. For a character, I'll have the morphs or actor, materials, any special additions, all in sub-folders under one folder so that everything for that character is in one place. These categories can be moved, renamed, split, grouped, however you want.
You can categorize entire folders and sub-folders at once, or multiple items in a folder at a time. The right-click is a very powerful tool that changes with every context. The only gotcha with custom categories is there is no undo, so if you delete a reference or folder, you have to do it over again. That, and it can be very tedious if you have a lot of stuff. Start early...
The scroll means that the product contains both Poser materials and Daz Studio materials (3Delight, not Iray). Applying that materila preset with the scroll from inside Daz Studio will automatically apply the Daz Studio version of the material.
If you installed with DIM. you can right click on the installed product package in DIM and select the option to show installed files. It will give you a list with links to all the files it installed for that product.
Thanks again N, I haven't got too much so I'll start now. On it!
Many thanks barbult, for a moment there I thought there was something amiss!
One more question if I may guys, I have started to bring all of my assets into a "My Categories" folder with subfolders for People, characters, Clothing, Hair etc. all working a treat at the moment! Thanks Northof45! :) However, rather than trawl through all of the Libraries, am I right in assuming that everything in the Daz Studio Suite can be found in the "Products" folder whether it be Daz Studio Format or Poser Format...? That means I can just work my way down the alphabet and move things to my appropriate Categories folders. I have just about finished the Kids4 assets (All in one place now, hoorah!) and about to embark on Genesis People.
Thanks again
Malc
Everything should be in the Products folder, but I have found (or not found, so to speak) several products that had no entry or a blank entry in the Products section. However, my content goes back two computers, an OS change and CMS database conversion, so I feel lucky I didn't have to start over completely. What I did do, to ensure I didn't miss anything, was go through DIM chronologically by order number. Now it's just a matter of maintenance, categorizing new items as they are installed (and exporting the User Data to back it up).
Thanks N, understood. This exercise is going to make DS life so much easier!
