moving DAZ

Hello world

I just tried to move my DAZ to my new computer. For doing so I installed the newest version of DAZ there and copied my whole DAZ-folder from the old computer/documents to the new computer.

It seems all contense is there, but the folder hierachy I built on the old computer (mostly under categories) is lost. Do I have to copy another file from elsewhere?

  • The categorisation is in the database used by the Content Management System. You can export userdata on the old system, copy the files across, and reimport on the new or you can copy the whole database across (which will replace any chnages/additions made on the new system).

To export/import userdata go to the Content Library pane, open its option menu (the lined button in the top corner, or right-click the tab), and select Content DB Maintenance thencheck the option (Export Userdata on the old, reimport Metadata on the new). The file(s) you need are the userdata#.dsx files in /Runtime/Support/ in the first content directory on the old machine, which go in the equivalent location on the new before importing.

If you want to copy the whole database, it's the ContetCluster folder listed in Edit>Preferences>CMS tab. DS, DIM, and Carrara must be closed when copying the folder on the old machine and pasting it on the new.
