Any way to prevent Smart Content showing non-specific content ?

E.g. If I have Artemis X for Genesis loaded and selected, then the Genesis Starter Essentials, Genesis 8 FemaleStarter Essentials, and Genesis 8 Male Starter Essentials appear in the Smart Content

I found out why they appear - it's because those three products each contain a few things that have 'Compatibility Base' set to 'AnyObject'.

But I can't see any way on the Smart Content pane to only show content that's specific to the product in question.

So in my example, as well as the three materials (which I want to see) I get nine irrelevant items showing up.

There must be a way to prevent this, yes ?

But how ?

  • Not that I am aware of - other than editing the compatibility of the files in question so it's no longer Any Object.

I'm a bit behind - still using DS 4.8[.0.59], and I see the same problem on DS4.9[.4.117].  So I should probably ask if anybody using a more up-to-date version of DAZ Studio actually sees this problem. I assume that (almost) everybody has the Genesis 8 Female Starter Essentials product installed ? The two 'Export Base Resolution OBJ' scripts are part of the Genesis 8 Male & Female Starter Essentials, so I'd expect everybody who has one of those products installed to see at least one of those 'Export Base Resolution OBJ' scripts in the Smart Content pane.

  • I certainly have some products that show up with everything, but I'm not sure I'd call it a problem.

I would - but not a big one. Perhaps merely an irritation.

But I think a "Show only content specifically identified as being compatible with this product, and not generic items that are compatible with 'everything'" button on the Smart Content pane would be nice.
    Probably with less words.

from the "smart content" you can use some step to remove them ,but

on "smart content" tab select the icon of what you want to remove, right mouse (menu)

    > "SHOW ASSET" > on "content library PRODUCTS"
on the "library products" select the icon to remove with right mouse and use "REMOVE REFERENCE" accept "YES"
now the icon no more show on smart content

    > there is the 'but'
i spend ours to remove many unwanted icons from smart content, but
once you "re-import metadata" they all comes back,

we need a specific "user data" who keep "hidden" those unwanted icons

Removing the reference (or editing the Compatibility Base) for the unwanted 'compatible with everything' items has one big problem-
If you want to see all the 'compatible with everything' items then you can't.

So I've raised a support request, details as below:

Request #304796: We need a way to prevent Smart Content showing non-specific content

Some products include items with 'Compatinility Base' set to 'Any Object'. This means that they will appear in Smart Content regardless of the selected item.

Can we have a button on the Smart Content pane to restrict the displayed content to that which is SPECIFICALLY identified as compatible with the selected item ?

There's an "Any way to prevent Smart Content showing non-specific content ?" thread in the forum with more details:
    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/343271/any-way-to-prevent-smart-content-showing-non-specific-content

(I'm using DS4.8/4.9, but I believe this problem still exists at DS4.11)

  • You selected menu "All" and smart content showed you exactly that, all that is one way or another compatible with the selected item. If you want to see specific content like "materials" than select specific menu "materials".

    Correct.

But it's not specific types/categories that I want to see, it's content that's specific to the item I've selected. i.e. not generic content that can be used with anything.
If I select an individual category or subcategoryI have the same problem - are the items displayed specific to the selected scene-item, or are they generic ?

(Perhaps I should have been more specific when I used the term 'specific'... wink)

Also, if I look at an individual category or subcategory I may not see everything that I expect to see. Addon's for a product (or even items in a single product) may not be categorized the same way. This suit happens to be an example of this:
