So I bought a shirt by someone and inside it came with the template, I know how to make the design on the shirt using Photoshop but here's where I get stuck, I am assuming that the next step is making it a duf file so that I can easily select it so could someone point me towards a tutorial or explain how I would go about the next steps. Thanks for your help.

Once you have created and saved the new texture you need to apply it to the model, which you do via the Editor tab of the Surfaces pane - select the relevant surface(s) of the model through the list on the left, then click on the Daz icon or micro-thumbnail (depending on whether it is unmapped or mapped at the moment) to the left of the Base colour or Diffuse Colour bar (which it is will depend on the shader applied to the model), select Browse.., and load your image. Adjust other settings as required and then you can use File>Save As>Materials Preset. It's best to have the images in a content directory, e.g. /Daz 3d/Studio/My Library, somewhere in the Runtime/Textures folder - that way only the relative path will be saved, making the result more tolerant if you move to a new system with different folders for content.
I will give that a try thank you.
just to make it easy.. forget the template...
1) put the shirt on a character in daz...
2) in the surfaces tab pick the shirt
3) then go to the diffuse map (3dl) or the base map iray and click on the image there
4) go to the browse (top setting)
5) that will take you to the folder with the active shirt texture
6) at that point I right click the texture and say open with photoshop
7) in ps save with a new name
8) do your mods on that shirt
9) save
10) back in the daz window .. which is waiting for you to pick a texture.. click on the new one and it goes on the texture.
you can do the bump mats the same way.

all the tee-shirts were done that way.. and most of them with daz renders of the character put back on the shirt.
