Content Window Empty

Hello

I just installed Daz3D, and I am trying to get started, but there seems to be no files in my content folder, although they appear to be installed.

See attached files.

  • Do you get an alert complaining about the lack of a PostgreSQL connection when yous tart DS? Can you find the files in the Content Library pane, under Daz Studio Formats>My Daz 3D Library (assuming you used the default paths)?

I first got the complaint about not finding a connection for PostgresSQL, but after looking on these forums, I realized that DIM did not install the PostgresCMS (nor Hexagon), so I manually downloaded and installed them. After that DS stopped complaining.

It's only this problem with not showing the content now.

I checked in the preferences in the directories section, and Daz recognizes the paths where the data is located, which are located in those on my pc.

    Oh. One thing I noticed.

These directories : C:\Users\Dude\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Daz Connect Library\data\cloud are empty.

While this : C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library contains all the content.

Is that the way it ought to be?

  • Any content you installed before installing PostgreSQL will not have been entered into the database. You can fix this by opening the Content Library pane's option menu (the lined button in the top corner, or right-click on the pane's tab), selecting Content DB Maintenance, then in the dialogue checking Re-import metadata, and finaly selecting all products in the second dialogue.

The \DAZ 3D\Studio\My Daz Connect Library\data\cloud folder will be empty until you tell DS to go online (from the Connect menu), at which point ti will download metadata for all your current purchases to the meta folder. Any content you install from within DS (for example from the Install pane) will also go in that folder, in a sub-folder names 1_SKU (using the products SKU, as shown on the store page and elsewhere). So it's fine for that to be empty if you have been using only Install Manager

  • That fixed things. Thanks Richard. Now I can work. laugh
