Hard drive keeps running

Has anyone had this problem: harddrive running perpetually after loading DAZ 4.6, even after the program is closed down? When I load the program, it sounds like it is working at loading, and when I load a scene it is going extra hard, but even after the scene loads and the multiple instances of "tdlmake" have finished, the hard drive is still motoring along even well after program is closed and the system is generally idle. Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is that your computer may be running out of memory? Are you running Windows? Do you know how to start the task manager and check the amount of free/available memory? Press alt+cltrl+del keys. Daz Studio 4.6 needs at least 1 GB of free physical memory to load Genesis without swapping to the swap file.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. What do you think of the attached image (the data it shows)? I do have a fair bit of physical space available, but as far as physical memory allotted for performance, what should I do?

Hmm, good question. Hopefully someone else will have an answer. It seems that you have 10 GB of memory free if I am reading the numbers correctly. Your computer has enough memory for Daz Studio to run without problems.

I assume that you have a fast processor so loading models from the hard drive or browsing items in the content pane should be quick. Sorry I couldn't help out more. Hopefully someone else has better ideas.

Have you installed content recently, or saved a scene with imported content (Poser items, OBJ files, new morphs)? If so it may be Windows indexing the files for search.

I have installed new DAZ content recently. An office scene, some wardrobe items, and a few characters.
