3rd party content missing files

I have always found it to be hit and miss with 3rd party content files (10 years with Daz). Sometimes they work perfectly, other times I can find them in my content location, but I get an error message saying there are files missing.

and a gray box will load onto my character. Some are pay and some free content.

I direct all the content to the same folder location

Any thoughts on what I may be doing wrong sometimes?

Thanks

i had a similar problem last year
problem was my hard disk, > lost cluster and lost directories

move to another location or change disk fixed my problem

if you sure all files are in place re-import metadata refresh all your install products.

check the "log" to see where the missing file are located!

A lot of 3rd party content has an unnecessary leading folder like "Content", "My Library" or "[the makers name here]".  When extracting you need dig down till you find a "data" and/or "Runtime" folder and extract from that point.

Someone at Rendo has made an installer for DS 3rd party content which should take care of that automatically, but I haven't tried it (I've been working on one myself but it's not automated, you have to check and edit the paths yourself, which it's quite simple though).
