Anyone here use iClone?

edited December 1969 in The Commons

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone here had tried iClone and what they thought of it?

Specifically, I am interested in how it inter-operates with Daz, and how the pose/animation tools work. I like to render static scenes in Max, after creating characters and posing them in Daz, so I would be interested in a tool that sped up the posing stage.

I know one plugin available performs an FBX export of a character into iClone through their 3DExchange system. However the FBX exporter of Daz isn't great, and even if it was, you wouldn't get the TriAx skinning. Can we animate/pose in iClone and re-import into Daz?

    I use it a lot
is more for animation, of lower quality than Daz optimized for movie making game engine style
for static scenes you are better of posing in studio and exporting as obj to render elsewhere
FBX only needed for animation if you want rigging
and no going back into Daz Studio from iClone is only possible via BVH export of animation and maybe OBj export though no real need FBX import in Daz studio is very limited
Carrara 8.5 on the other imports iClone pipeline exports fully rigged and animated
it also I have heard (and briefly found during my 30 day Max trial) plays better with Max if you want a program that natively uses Daz and Poser content and has a good FBX import ability
