Once upon a time, it was the night before xmas, all over the house, nothing was stirring not even a mou....apart from SantaSparky with an angle grinder...who working from some idea and designs created by some children... is pleased to announce the 2013 Xmas Week Freebie...

Two Slighlty Suspect SnowDomes

The first SnowDome - The Farting Elf Lighter - is a retro tinplate mechnical toy containing with a mixture of gases and snowflakes. On pressing the button Santa "lights" the elf, the gas explodes filling the dome with snowflakes. Which, as you can see from the model, is perfectly safe.

The Second SnowDome features a resin style Xmas Fairy in a more "modern" scene. But with a little twist..it's a mystery snowdome! To see the contents you'll need to adjust the transparency levels of the dome.

To download......

This is all well and good -- ho ho ho and all that -- but I'm afraid there's a serious flaw in SnowDome No 2 (no pun intended).

I feel churlish complaining about a Christmas gift and especially one so, uh, charming, but the text in the provided book is illegible.

Would it be possible to reissue the model with a higher-resolution excerpt from the book in question? I haven't read that book yet, nor the famous book that it's parodying, but from what I can make out, the text seems intriguingly racy, and I wouldn't mind getting the full gist of what's going on. Perhaps I could even quote passages from it aloud while carolling around my neighbourhood.

    Thank you.

Afraid not. The text is in scale to real fairys, so for them it's a large print book.
Plus it's in fairyspeak as well. Though I am able to offer a partial translation...:)

Seriously though. That image of text is from wikipedia and pretty low res to start with. If you wanted to add text to the books texture. The map is 1024x1024 and that size it can roughly accept 10 lines of text at 12pt. So taking just this one map to 4096x4096 wouldn't be too system heavy. But if you do need something larger to write on I can always remap the book to a separate material for you.

I would love the opportunity to be able to put my own textures and text on the book. If it's not to much trouble, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Updated :)

Just use the same link as above. As you can see it takes text, even at 12 point rather well.
Picture of train on that image is from another 3d creation which is shown below.
