Missing Files that are in the folders

Hi all,

 

First time post here. New user to DAZ 3D Studio. But of backbround info... I have been involved with different kind of IT stuff over the past 20 years, so not a complete noob. I have managed to 'repair' issues or 'hack' issues when things go south, either by my own understanding or searching relative product forums.

 

So I have been having the "missing files" issues as well, and have been readings posts of people with the same issues. Tried suggested solutions but not luck so far. I am fairly sure that I have my settings right. But, as in the past, I have also learned that when it comes to IT stuff, to be humble as in your face problems/solutions are often overlooked. Too much browsing/reading tends to have you over look obvious problem. So in humbleness I come to the forum with this post/request. I'm fresh out of ideas!

 

If a picture speaks a thousand words, I got 6000 words for you today. Here are screenshots of the problem, errors, file locations.... The problem at hand is with a Joker outfit, for Genesis 3 on the Nathalie doll and the clothing is for Genesis 3.

Image daz 003 - Content Directory Manager file location settings

Image daz 004 - Log File

Image daz 005 - Location of (non missing) missing DSF file on hard drive

Image daz 006 - Location (compared with highlighting location of file on Log  and file on PC)

 

I hope this helps with providing info in helping me try and resolve this problem (I have other examples like this too with other stuff in DAZ). I hope to resolve this one and understand how this works and resolving the others too.

You should not have a "Content" folder in your library.  Move everything that folder up one.  In your Content Directory Manager remove the last path under DAZ Studio Formats. Connect data should not be installed to any of your normal libraries.  Usually tou would have the same paths set under Poser Formats as you have und DAZ Studio Formats with the exception being if you an all Poser format library.

As jkestmart says, you need to take the files and folders from /My Library/Content/ and place them in /My Library/

Thanks for replying too. I have added the files and fixed that problem. but I must have gone too far because I had to reinstall Genesis 2 and 3 essentials. some of the free(basic) outfits are 'damaged' too. will try and redownload them to try and fix it.

That is whay I mentioned before that I have long before learnt my lesson with IT/Software. You can never 'know it all' or 'try it all'. Thanks for your input and help

 

I will get back to you regarding re-installing the essentials/clothing

Does DS have a limit on how many files it can have at one time under Smart Content?  I have had to reinstall things that were already installed, and there are many things just plain missing that I find in the next tab down.  Still looking for my ironman poses and a few environments.

There's a limit to how many files it can display at a given time (1200 IIRC, if you have more you need to use filters to narrow down the search results), but not how many can be installed.
