Can I pause a render, work on a completely different scene, and then resume later?

If I don't close the window, can I still click on "resume" later, and work on a different scene in the meantime?

One would need to try it, if the geometry is loaded on the card and the textures are in your temp folder I imagine so but I honestly don’t know as not tried it, the new scene might clear your temp files.

I'm hoping someone can tell me without having to try it, because I'm 3 hours deep in a render, and I have to work on another project!

  • As long as you don't close the render window Iray will let you resume - but then of course there's a chunk of GPU memory used. That's also true if you use the beta as a second DS version.

Thank you, Richard! I was hoping that was the answer.
