Setup for multiple remote users through vdi

Hello everyone
We are a small group that would like to work on some rendering projects.
But instead of everyone buying a high tec computer for themselves, we thought about a server with a rdp connection, best realized through vdi (giving everyone a native desktop experience)
Lag should not be an issue. I've been through multiple treads like this one https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/163911/daz-over-remote-desktop , but those mostly are about using rdp not as vdi.
Anyone experience regarding setting up a vdi system on a servernetwork? I do not wish to just make serverfarm, where people use the server for batches of rendering. But a true Workstation for remote users.
If we take a look at https://www.cgdirector.com/best-computer-3d-modeling-rendering/ for CPU rendering
Parts List:
CPU: AMD Threadripper 2990WX 3.0GHz 32-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 TR4
Motherboard: Gigabyte X399 Designare EX ATX TR4
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1660TI 6GB - Gigabyte Windforce
Memory: 64GB (4 x 16GB) Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-2666 CL16
Storage SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Power Supply: Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 650W ATX 2.4 Power Supply
Case: Fractal Design Define XL R2 Titanium Big Tower Case
Now using consumer hardware in a server built can be a bit annoying. Graphic card passthrough might not work as intended.
1) First question ist regarding CPU/GPU, there seems to be a ton of discussion whetever you should only do CPU rendering or if GPU rendering is much better.
If I need GPU rendering, do I get passthrough to work with a 1660TI, as example? It should work for a NVidia professional, but they are a bit too expensive for the moment.
(For any users it should be just like their homesystem)
2) Citrix XenDesktop would be an option to do vdi, has anyone a better one? Team consists of 4 people, starting with 3.
Just wanting to make sure I don't waste 3k+ on a build that is not going to work. Help is much appreciated! :)

Before getting too involved with the technical issues you should probably be sure that you have the correct licensing - a Sales Support ticket should help there https://www.daz3d.com/help/help-contact-us
hi ,
i setup a vdi project for a customer , but its use vmware view infrastructure / 4 server in cluster 1 EMC SAN and 4 quadro gv100 to making Vgpu . and off course all the neede license for vgpu part .
Maybe why not tried to do an hyper v machine with remote fx (vgpu ) , if you hardware surport SLAT (i thing its ok) just do that for my own server at home to play some japan game remotly on my macbook or other computer / tablette etc .... on the lan
hyper v is free on win 10 pro but you have limitation ...
or buy serveur 2016 / 2019 license
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/virtualization/hyper-v/plan/plan-for-deploying-devices-using-discrete-device-assignment
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/virtualization/hyper-v/deploy/deploying-graphics-devices-using-dda
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/virtualization/hyper-v/hyper-v-on-windows-server
Thanks, both of you!
I know the vmware way, but including the graphic cards we are looking at about 15-20k I guess. I'd like to start with 3-5k.
I already have a Server 2016 + 2019 licence, so I will try some more testing.
I will continue this thread if I have read thorugh everything and have more questions, or if I have found a working solution.
Thanks again for your input
