File load freezing at "Fit-to"

I'm guessing the answer is that it's unrecoverable, but I have a file where the load is freezing at the "fit-to" stage (and I have tried leaving it a very long time to see if it can get its knickers out of a twist).

Given I've not previously had many problems with Daz files corrupting and it was a file I'd only been working on for one afternoon, I hadn't got around to keeping back-up copies of the session yet. (Although, very very fortunately, I have saved out a mostly complete preset for the character I was dialling up, although only by the pure chance that I needed to export the character to Blender to create a custom adjustment to the face).

Is there any known fix for this kind of freeze on loading?

  • It's not something I have come across.

  • The first question is, Is this a scene or just a specific product?

If it's a scene, there's probably an error in the file, you'll more than likely have to start over on the project.

If it's a specific product, it's more than likely a dial conflict or an error with the base mesh or the item being loaded.

Reinstalling the content may solve the issue, and it may not.

It's also possible that it's just looking for something that doesn't exist in your asset library.

While the last idea usually generates errors, the others may not as it's a software hang.

Be sure to check the log file after closing DS to see if there's any indication of what may be causing the hang.

I have this happening randomly when fitting V4 content to Genesis. And yeah leaving it overnight won't solve anything LOL. When it happens I need to forcequit DS. Have no workaround, other than save the file before attempting to fit;) After re booting DS, typically the fit to will work without issues.
