Zero Figure Pose

Is it just me, or does this function take forever. On G8F it takes a few minutes to complete for me.

depend of the morph and added clothes
more time takes by face expressions

  • Yes, it generally works more quickly if the figure does not have anything fitted to it.

Even butt naked takes a few minutes. I always want to see if it is quicker to just zero out the pose dials myself, but always remember to try after I hit the button to do it auto lol. Oh nvm, script would be faster, just remembered things like rotate joints don't show up on currently used, so I would have to go through all the bones one by one haha.

does this happened with all type reset?

    - zero pose,
    - reset pose
    - restore pose

    - do you apply memorise figure pose and memorise figure shapes?

Even with a fully clothed figure, I have not had it take more then a few seconds to zero the pose

I usually do edit > figure > zero > zero figure pose. On the last time I had to use it, I noticed g8m it's like seconds and done, only g8f takes minutes for some reason. I also just remembered a lot of pose sets come with a reset pose, that takes seconds to load, I think I am just gonna toss one for g8f and one for g8m in my scripts and hope I remember I put them there instead of doing it throu edit menu lol.

For me, Zero Pose and applying a preset pose takes about the same time - maybe a second or less. I use a keyboard shortcut (Shift-Ctrl-Z) to reset to zero pose. I haven't tried in 4.12 yet but I haven't noticed any difference in any previous releases.

It's so weird how everyone gets all different kinds of results with the same script lol. I use a lot of scaling, I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Ususally clothes and hairs are a pain when you try to fit on a scaled down persons, so I usually scale everything up +100% just to make sure the smallest person in the scene is above 100%.

I've had better luck with setting up the figure at 100%, clothing, posing, etc. and then reducing them. Things seem to like it better if they're loaded at 100% and then scaled down than if they are trying to scale at loading time.

Also, if your goal is to adjust the height (only), I think the Height morphs available in packs like Genesis 8 Female Body Morphs and Genesis 8 Male Body Morphs do a better job of making shorter and taller characters. However the range is more restricted than using the Scale parameter. The picture below shows an example of why I feel this way. The GF8 on the left was scaled down using Height the one on the right was scaled using Scale. They are the same height, but the body shapes are different. For my purposes, the one on the left is more like what I wanted.

Hmmm, interesting experiment there. Probably about 80% of my scaling I let growing up presets do for me. When my current render is cooked I will try and experiment with two identical peoples, one I will put to adult preset, fit the clothes and hair, then use the other preset, And the other I will load in the clothes and hair as is, see if it fits on better on the one that is preset after fitting. That would be a better way than having to scale everything up, it's a royal pain in da assssssss to get lighting right when everything is giant sized

If you would like to speed up the zero-pose, you can save your own version of the zero-pose (which I did).  When you save it, only check the pertinent figure bones -- not ALL bones/morphs.  You'll notice there are way more selections than usually needed when saving a pose.  Unless you also wish to zero expressions, just selecting from head to toes is enough to zero a pose.
