Mimic Live Install Secrets

I thought I'd have some fun with Mimic Live. I hope installation is the hard part.
First, the Install Manager failed to install either the 32 or 64 version, in spite of the fact that the software install paths for both 32 and 64 bit software are defined, and were used to successfully install both versions of DS 4.6.
The Mimic Live 64 version manually installed happily in a dir of its own choice. In DS, though, Mimic Live is not available in WINDOW | PANES, where this tutorial says I will find it. I performed this experiment twice with the same result.
The 32 version didn't do so well. It claimed it could not find the DS dir, even when I ran the install executable from inside the DS dir.
....................................
I can see these little executables have minds of their own. Right now I'm really hoping the cure is not to uninstall DS, then reinstall it in a location that meets Mimic Live's expectations.
Please advise.
Thanks.

can you just download it as a zip and put the appropriate 32 or 64 bit .dll files in plugins?
(not sure as it worked for me but what most plugins need)
No, this is only available as an exe file. I prefer to put these things in manually.
I altered the Install Manager path settings. Now the Install manager says it is installed. I checked both install dirs. A PLUGINS\DZMIMIC is there in both 32 and 64. Still no access to it in DS, though.
Argh...
I almost have it. I think.
The graphic shows the problem. I do not understand what the Install Mgr is asking for. It appears to be asking for an installed path of a thing that has not yet been installed. (???) This may be simple for you, but it is not to me. :ohh:
What does it want?
It appears to want to know where your Daz Studio is, ie the path to it, so it can install the mimic plug-in for DS in the right place.
I wish.
Paths to DS already exist in the Install Mgr Applications tab. It doesn't like these. It asks specifically for a path to itself. But that is not possible. The Install Mgr only allows paths to existing applications.
Public Build is the beta version - it doesn't look as if you have that. You want the plugin that doesn't say "Public Build".
Thank you. That's half the battle. In fact, indirectly, it led me to the answer. The plugin wanted a serial number. Duh... %-P
Thanks!
This is the perfect solution!..
Have you installed the 64 bit version of Daz Studio? If you have, via Install Manager, try installing Mimic Live through Install Manager. The error means that the installer can't see the record of where your version of DS is - either because the 64 bit versions isn't there or because the method you used to install didn't record the path in the place checked by the stand-alone installer.
