DAZ 4.11 Single and Multicore activities - CPU Performance

Hi Everyone, i am about to build a new PC mainly to work with DAZ. Searching about which could be the best CPU selection, i could not find a definitive response specially in the aspect of  the frequency and core/threads quantity. I found some reviews talking in general about 3d Modelling and animation and they said that for this use the most important is the Clock Frequency, because the vast majority of 3d programs function on single core basis.

As i could not find anything specific for Daz3d i made some test by myself that i wanted to share with you if you have the same doubt

DAZ3d use the CPU in different ways  depending on the actions executed, below a list of the multi core and single core use according each activity.

Multi core calculations:

Geometry Modifications (like deformers and posing)

Grouping and hierarchy changes

Save the scene

Load a new scene

Adding new figures (in this case there is a mix because one core gets more load, but all the cores works to some extend)

Mainly Single Core

Lights Changes

Viewport: Changes (Zoom, rotation etc)

Surface Changes (materials and Shaders)

User interface (menus and Panels).

In this test i did not include the Rendering because rendering in Iray use mainly the GPU, even if you select the CPU as rendering device it not contribute considerably to reduce the render times. in the case that the CPU is used for rendering it is a Multi Core task.

Hope you can find this info useful!

How many cores/threads did you test with? Just curious if DS has a limit to how many threads it will use.

Also when you applied a shader to a surface did you try applying a single shader to multiple surfaces at the same time? That could well be multithreaed.
