Updating an old scene with a model with more bones...

Does anyone have a good trick for making an updated model (additional bones/rigging) pick up when opening an older scene file? When I do this it loads the old one without the new bone, even though it's been saved over in the data folder and shouldn't technically exist in that state any longer. When it does this, it doesn't pick up the new rigging and it also does not pick up the new surfaces. I compared the files in text to see if I could just swap the prop out that way, but there's a lot of IDS in there and I suspect it will conflict somehow.
I'm wondering if I need to restart Daz, clear a temp file, etc. to make it pick up the newly updated rigging. Because it's already in a posed position, it's not so easy to just reload it. It's too bad there isn't like a quick right click thing that forces it to "reload from current" or something.
