IRay not rendering

Hello. I have been using Daz for several years now, I've never had a problem. Today I was using DIM to download some new content. There was an update for Daz3D, after the download my cameras fouled up. My renders were washed out. I saved my work closed out and restarted my computer. After restart I couldn't find Daz 4.11. No desktop icon, not in my start menu, not even in program files. The only things showing were DIM and Hexagon. I had to go into AppData, Daz3D, and started the ScriptStartup. IRay would not render at all. I went to the website and reinstalled DAZ3D 4.11. Unfortunately, IRay is still not working. 3Delight renders fine. IRay I get a blank render. I've tried everything I can think of. I have a project due and need IRay up and running, any help would be greatly appreciated. Computer stats are: Windows 7, Asus Ramage4 Black, I7 3930K, 32 gigs ram, R9 290X pushing monitors, Dual Asus GTX 660TIs for rendering, 8TB storage.

Have you checked whether the cards ever start the render, is there CUDA activity on the cards? Have you tried a CPU only render?

Also, make sure you’re using a recent version of the GPU drivers, 4.11 includes a much newer version of Iray compared to 4.10.

  • Thanks for the prompt responses. CPU renders fine, no activity on the cards at all, and my drivers are all up to date. They are older cards, may not be compatable any more.

What models are they? Also, try de-selecting and then re-selecting them in the Photoreal devices list under the Advanced Render Settings pane.

As far as I'm aware Kepler cards are still supported and those 660ti's are Kepler.

If your drivers are up to date, gotten directly from Nvidia (never rely on Windows Update for drivers) then the next things to check is the Nvidia control panel. Find the entry for DS under Manage 3d Settings -> Program Settings. Make sure that using CUDA - GPUs is set to use your cards. If that isn't the issue you need to open up the DS log from when you start an Iray render and find the lines where it stops or doesn't use the GPU's and post that section of the log.

LawmanHK, see this note from the 4.11 Beta shortly before it went to final release:

    • Integrated Iray 2018.1.3 (312200.3564); see post for more detail
    • REQUIRES NVIDIA Driver 418.81 (or newer); see NVIDIA Driver Downloads
    • Windows 8/8.1 Users:
      • Until a new driver that addresses the issue is released by NVIDIA (potentially early May), rendering with a GPU based on the Kepler microarchitecture is likely to fail and fall back to CPU: (cards with a code name that starts with GK#)

Double check that the Nvidia driver you have installed really is "new enough" for it to work.
