I'm using a model from the GIS group...a six-sided gothic piece of architecture. I can scale it larger or smaller, but when I attempt to just scale just the X or Z axis, the various parts pull apart or smash together.
It is called Pre_Sigma or GIS Sigma in the content library. Once imported, it's called GSS_Ground in the Scene tab. I tried parenting it to a Null but still get the "pulled apart" look when adjusting X or Z scale.
Yes have it also and As I noted above it is Multi Parts grouped. I'm afraid the X scale simply will not work on this model as it is made. The Parts distort to much. I just tried all my tricks, nothing worked. You Could FOR your on use only covert the set to a SINGLE object file. Then use that object, it would then scale in all directions.
How do I convert the group to a single object? What's the menu command for that? Thanks.
Now that IS a good question. I have not Exported as Object from the new version of DAZ Studio. Let me try...Expand item Select ALL
File> Export> set to Wavefront obj > Pick save folder, Name File. Save as DAZ in the popup menu Save file.
Clear Scene with New. File> Import> Sigma.obj in Pop up Set as DAZ. Pop loads as single object. Now it scales on X and Z properly.
Thanks. This pretty much worked. Some oddities. I select just the part I want to export, but it exports all the parts in the scene. So when I go to import. I'm got a duplicate of everything. Fix is to just have the GIS Part and nothing else in the scene, then export.
Another glitch is maintaining the right axes. I'm trying to make a basically round 6-sided model into more of an oval, but if the axes are off, then I can't squeeze to make a longer lattitude. It goes to a larger issue I have with the axes in Daz...why do they follow the movement of the model. Is there a way to make them permanent? When I use Sketchup, for instance, the axes remain fixed and separate from the model.

That is because it is a Group of parts, you will need to Scale each part on it's own.
It might work using a Create > New NULL Object parent GIS to the NULL and scale the NULL insread
I can't check to see if that works as I don't have any content folders set up.
Which GIS is it Link or Nova, both have hex parts. I can check for you.

Well yes Just the GIS loaded works... It was all I did.
