Copy / paste a single frame from one model to another

Hello!

I have 2 "Genesis 2 Female" models in my scene.

Both have their own animation.

I would now like to copy frame 1 from model A and copy it onto frame 1 of model B.

To do that, I first go to frame 1.

Then I select the body parts that I want to copy from model A, then I choose "Edit -> Copy -> Copy Selected Items".

Then I choose the same body parts of model B, then I choose "Edit -> Paste -> Paste Pose to selected Items."

It works, but the entire animation is pasted, not only frame 1.

How could I limit the copy / pasting to frame #1?

Thank you!

Save model A on frame 1 as a pose preset (current frame). You might want to exclude the figure transforms and morphs. Apply it to model B on frame 1.

Is there no easier / quicker way?

  • I have now simply exported the model as an FBX with animation un-checked.

Then I re-imported it and copy / pasted it.

That didn't require a pose preset.

If you have graphmate, select all the bones of one character, scroll over translations and rotations in the parameterspane and copy the keyframe in graphmate, select your other character, scroll over the same parameters, go to graphmate and paste. Is it easier? Probably not;)

My current approach (exporting without animation, just with the current pose) doesn't work: If I paste it, it pastes the same pose to all frames of the animation.

Would "Pose Preset" not do that?

My current problem is that I have saved the Pose Preset, but I can't locate it in DAZ, so I can't apply it. :-(

I still have to read the docs on how to find / apply it.

  • I got it:

    Your hint was great!

First I saved it as a "Pose Preset" to a "known folder".

Then I selected the body parts that I want to apply the pose to.

Then I held down Ctrl and double-clicked the Pose Preset.

That brought up some options, and I choose "Selected".

    That would do it.

    Thank you very much!

Yeah, it is a bit of a nuisance not being able to select saved poses, etc., outside of the DAZ library. You could always add more folders to the library but that's making things more complicated still. I can open saved scenes from anywhere but can't access saved poses.
